Hee-chan Hwang scored a brace as Wolves denied Newcastle their first victory of the season.
The hosts took the lead in the opening half-hour, as Hwang pounced on a Raul Jimenez through ball and coolly dispatched past Karl Darlow.
Wolves nearly doubled their advantage but Francisco Trincao's effort rifled against the crossbar.
The Magpies levelled the scoring when Jeff Hendrick fired a long-range effort into the bottom corner before Jimenez turned provider again as Wolves regained the lead through another Hwang strike.
The result means that Newcastle drop into the bottom three, while it is Wolves' first home win of the season.
Wolves boss Bruno Lage was extremely pleased with his side's performance. He said: "When you look at our goals, it's not just about Raul and Hwang, we want to see how they start. We are happy with that, that's our way to play.
"When you find that space in-between the lines, you have to have those kind of players that can receive the ball and the other guys to attack the space. That's the dynamic we want."
