Wrexham have won promotion to the Football League and now they are plotting some Hollywood signings. 

Their recent attempts to persuade Gareth Bale to resurrect his career may have been tongue-in-cheek but we can still expect some serious business to be done this summer. 

With the financial muscle of owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney behind them, the club will be able to attract a better class of footballer than the average League Two side. 

Ahead of the transfer window opening in June, we take a look at some of the players that Wrexham could be targeting in the coming months. 

Goalkeeper

Wrexham brought Ben Foster out of retirement towards the end of last season to compete with Mark Howard and Rob Lainton. 

There is the possibility that Foster will extend his stay, but club chiefs might be looking at other targets in this position. 

Tom Heaton began his youth career at the Racecourse and the Chester-born keeper's contract at Manchester United expires this summer. 

If the Red Dragons choose to go in a different direction, then they could give Nathan Ashmore a chance in the Football League. The Boreham Wood ace is considered the best keeper in the National League. 

Defence

If there is a position that Wrexham need to strengthen in defence, it is at left-back. 

A big name available on a free transfer is Danny Rose with the 32-year-old without a club since leaving Watford in 2022. 

On the other side of the defence, one of the brightest talents in the fourth tier is Colchester's Junior Tchamadeu. Named in the League Two Team of the Season, he is being monitored by Championship clubs. 

Wrexham have not really gone in for loan signings under Phil Parkinson, but it could be worth asking if Cardiff are willing to lend their Welsh centre-back Oliver Denham. 

Midfield

Danny Mayor was a key part of the Plymouth side that have just won promotion to the Championship, but the midfielder has been let go on a free transfer. 

The playmaker and his family want to return north. If Wrexham can persuade the 32-year-old that they are close enough to Mayor's native Lancashire, then his signing would be a major coup.

When it comes to wide players, the club have been linked with Harry Anderson. After an injury-hit season, Bristol Rovers have decided not to renew his contract, so he will be available on a free. 

Wrexham are reported to be looking to add to their Welsh contingent and a player that could be worth monitoring is the pint-sized international Joe Morrell, who is currently at League One's Portsmouth. 

Attack

A League One player heavily linked with a move to Wrexham is Cheltenham striker Alfie May. 

The 29-year-old scored 22 goals across all competitions last season and has stated that he wants to leave the Gloucestershire club. Charlton and Millwall are also said to be interested. 

Andy Cook was the top scorer in League Two last season with 28 goals and could be targeted if Bradford fail to make it through the play-offs.
