Newly-appointed Al-Ettifaq manager Steven Gerrard is lining up an ambitious move for Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

Gerrard agreed a two-year contract with the Saudi Pro League outfit yesterday, his first managerial gig since being sacked by Aston Villa last October.

According to the Daily Mail, Henderson is now being targeted by his former team-mate but it remains to be seen whether the Reds skipper would be tempted by a switch to the Middle East.

The England international midfielder, 33, has two years remaining on his current deal at Anfield.

Henderson joined Liverpool in June 2011 and has gone on to make 492 appearances, captaining the side to Premier League and Champions League triumphs.

Another star reportedly of interest to Al-Ettifaq chiefs is Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 34-year-old would be the latest Blues player to make the move to the Pro League following the confirmed departures of N'Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy.

There is also said to be speculation of Al-Ettifaq moving for Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane and Villa playmaker Philippe Coutinho, although it is thought to be unlikely that either player will complete a switch.
