Tottenham and Everton will both be chasing their first victories of the new Premier League season when they meet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Despite taking the lead and dominating for large spells of Monday's trip to newly-promoted Leicester, Spurs had to make do with a share of the spoils at the King Power Stadium following a 1-1 draw.

That result was considerably better than Everton's league opener at home to Brighton, as the Toffees were thrashed 3-0 and had experienced full-back Ashley Young sent off to add to what was a miserable day for Sean Dyche and his side.

Spurs should welcome midfielder Yves Bissouma back into the fold following suspension, but back-up goalkeeper Fraser Forster remains a doubt with a foot issue.

New £65m signing Dominic Solanke is expected to lead the line once again in what will be his competitive home debut following his summer switch from Bournemouth.

With Young suspended following last week's sending off, Everton are facing a crisis at right back, with injured duo Nathan Patterson (hamstring) and Seamus Coleman (calf) again expected to be sidelined.

James Garner (calf) and Youssef Chermiti (foot) are also unlikely to feature, although centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite has a chance of returning as he steps up his recovery from minor groin surgery.

Spurs took four points off Everton last season, triumphing 2-1 on their own patch in December before a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park in February. Ange Postecoglou's side led at half time in both of those games.

Everton have failed to win any of their last 11 away matches in the Premier League, a run that begun with their 2-1 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just before Christmas.

The Toffees’ last league win at Spurs was a 1-0 success in September 2020, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring the only goal of that game early in the second half.

Prediction

Spurs were the better side during Monday's draw with Leicester, accumulating over 70% possession and having more than double the amount of shots on target compared to their hosts.

However, their failure to convert that dominance into victory will have been a source of frustration for Postecoglou and his side and they will want to put that right in front of their home supporters.

The omens are good for Spurs, they have won their last three home clashes with Everton and were ahead at half time in both meetings last season, closing out the victory on home soil before settling for a point on Merseyside.

Everton have not won on the road since December in the league and were behind after just 25 minutes of their clash with Brighton, where they never really looked like recovering.

It could be a similar story for the Toffees in north London as Spurs, in front of their home supporters for the first time this season, will be keen to make a fast start and show they have learned from Monday's mistakes at the King Power Stadium.
