Fathers and sons who have played in the Premier League
Eighteen years after Patrick Kluivert left Newcastle, his son Justin has signed for Bournemouth.
The Kluiverts become one of the most illustrious father-son combinations to both play in the Premier League, with Patrick remembered as a leading striker of his era despite falling short on Tyneside.
We take a look at the other dads and lads who have both played English top-flight football.
Ian Wright and Shaun/ Bradley Wright-Phillips
Ian Wright and Shaun Wright-Phillips became the first of two father-son combinations to both win the Premier League when Shaun lifted the title with Chelsea in 2006.
With one title apiece, dad Ian comes out on top for goals (113-32) but Shaun wins on appearances (315-213).
Remarkably, Wrighty raised two sons to be Premier League footballers with Bradley scoring two times in 32 appearances before making hay in Major League Soccer.
Peter and Kasper Schmeichel
The Schmeichels are the second father-son title-winning set, sealed when Leicester won the Premier League with Kasper in goal in 2016.
The Danes are also the only such pair to both be goalkeepers and have more combined appearances than any other combination.
Peter played 310 top-flight games in England, with Kasper on 284, while they have played 129 and 93 matches for Denmark respectively.
Alf-Inge and Erling Haaland
The Haalands' relationship is more public than any other with Alf-Inge spotted wildly celebrating many of his son's 52 goals for Manchester City last season.
Alfie made 181 appearances as a midfielder for Nottingham Forest, Leeds and the Citizens but his top-flight career is best known for a spat with Roy Keane that saw his knee end up badly damaged during a Manchester derby.
Erling has just produced one of the greatest-ever debut Premier League campaigns and his dad's influence on his career is evident.
Paul and Tom Ince
Paul Ince has managed three clubs since 2010 and had son Tom as a star player at all of them, including his most prolific season for six years at Reading last term.
The 31-year-old was tipped for big things at Liverpool and nearly moved to Inter Milan.
But he has had to settle for a career that has seen him alternate between the top end of the Championship and lower end of the Premier League, where he featured for Crystal Palace, Hull and Huddersfield.
Previously, dad Paul enjoyed a stellar playing career, making 306 appearances and winning two titles with Manchester United.
Steve and Alex Bruce
The dad has also signed the son in the Bruce relationship with Steve recruiting Alex when he was in charge of Birmingham and Hull.
Like the Inces, the father had a far more illustrious playing career. Steve made 148 appearances for Manchester United, winning three titles in his four Premier League campaigns.
Alex played in the top flight under his dad and has otherwise featured in the Championship and League One.
