- Four of Sunderland's last five away games have featured at least three goals
- Swansea have lost their last two home fixtures
- Recommended bet: Sunderland to win

Sunderland snapped a three-game losing sequence by winning 3-1 at home to Norwich last Saturday and they head to mid-table Swansea with the intention of maintaining their promotion push.

The Black Cats are in eighth place — just one point outside of the play-offs — and will be anxious to arrest a downturn in away results after recent defeats at Stoke (1-2) and Leicester (0-1).

Swansea are four points worse off but they approach the weekend in a positive frame of mind thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 success at Blackburn.

The Swans have picked up 15 points from their last seven games and will be hopeful of ending the week in the top half of the table.

Team news

Swansea manager Michael Duff must plan without Josh Ginnelly (muscle injury), Nathan Wood (ankle), Nathanael Ogbeta, Joe Allen (both leg) and Azeem Abdulai (hamstring).

However, Ben Cabango (hamstring) was a late substitute in last Saturday's 1-0 success at Blackburn and will be pushing for more minutes against the Black Cats.

Sunderland trio Eliezer Mayenda (hamstring), Aji Alese (thigh) and Timothee Pembele (unspecified injury) have suffered setbacks and face a little more time on the sidelines.

Adil Aouchiche (groin), Jay Matete and Corry Evans (both knee) are also unavailable and Dan Ballard serves a one-match ban after accumulating five yellow cards.

The stats

Swansea collected three points in their opening seven games and 15 points in the next seven.

Five of the Swans' last six home matches have featured at least three goals.

Duff's team have found the net in 14 of their 16 fixtures this season.

Sunderland have conceded the opening goal in each of their last four matches.

The Black Cats have scored three goals or more in five of their last 10 fixtures.

Four of Sunderland's last five away games have generated at least three goals.

Prediction

Sunderland have been an exciting watch in the Championship this season with 10 of their 14 matches producing at least three goals, and their free-scoring nature could help them to secure maximum points at the Liberty Stadium.

Black Cats’ boss Tony Mowbray encourages his players to express themselves and his managerial style is getting the best out of winger Jack Clarke, who has netted nine goals this season.

Clarke's superb individual performance was key to last Saturday's 3-1 success at home to Norwich and the 22-year-old could play a match-winning role against the Swans, who have kept just one clean sheet in their last four fixtures.

Swansea went on a decent run between the September and October international breaks, but they have lost their last two home fixtures, including a 1-0 reverse against Watford, who had travelled to south Wales without an away win in 16 attempts.

Duff's side responded to the Watford loss with a gritty 1-0 victory at Blackburn, but they look inferior to Sunderland in the attacking department and could be second best on Saturday.
