The glamorous surroundings of Miami play host to round five of the 2023 Formula 1 season with Sergio Perez seeking to replace team-mate Max Verstappen at the top of the drivers’ standings.

The Formula 1 World Championship is shaping up to be an exclusive battle between the Red Bull drivers, who have two wins apiece from the first four races of the year.

Perez sits six points behind Verstappen following his victories in both the sprint race and Grand Prix in Azerbaijan last weekend, performances which further enhanced his reputation as F1’s best street racer.

The Mexican will therefore be happy to be heading to Miami’s purpose-built street track, having won four of the last five races staged at street circuits. But, he is not the only driver that enjoys these types of venues.

Perez ready to press home title claims

Perez has never previously won more than two races in a season but he is a 10/3 chance with LiveScore Bet to chalk up his third success in the first five races of 2023 as F1 makes its second trip to Miami.

Last year, Verstappen held off Charles Leclerc to win the inaugural Miami Grand Prix and is the 2/5 favourite to make it back-to-back Sunshine State successes.

Since that victory 12 months ago, a Red Bull driver has stood on the top step of the podium at the conclusion of 18 of the last 21 races.

Given the Red Bulls were, at times, a second a lap quicker than Leclerc in third in Azerbaijan, the Milton Keynes-based outfit look unlikely to lose their grip on races anytime soon.

Leclerc may bloom in Miami Gardens

However, qualifying is another matter. Ferrari had the edge over the Red Bulls on Saturdays last year, taking 10 pole positions to Red Bulls’ eight, and bagged two poles in Baku last weekend.

Behind the wheel of a Ferrari carrying several upgrades, Leclerc was the fastest qualifier for both the sprint race and Grand Prix, positions he converted in a 22-point haul to treble his tally for the season.

Much like Perez, street circuits seem to bring out the best of Leclerc with nine of his 19 career poles coming at those types of tracks.

The 25-year-old has been the fastest qualifier in five of the last eight races staged at street venues and appeals to ruffle Red Bull's feathers by taking pole at x/x with LiveScore Bet.

Bank on positive Alpine response

Alpine head to party town Miami in need of a pick-me-up, having failed to score a point in the last two races.

The French team’s bad luck from Australia, where their two drivers crashed into one another, followed them to Azerbaijan as mechanical issues plagued their weekend.

It meant we did not get to see the best of the upgraded A523 but hopes are high that it can challenge Mercedes when all is working.

Both Alpines comfortably finished in the top 10 in Saudi Arabia in round two in a trouble-free race and given the similarities between the tracks in Jeddah and Miami, a return to form for the Renault works team may be just around the corner with a double points finish x/x with LiveScore Bet.
