Brazilian wonderkid Matheus Franca is ready to make his Premier League mark with Crystal Palace.

The Eagles have won the race for the highly-rated Flamengo winger, who was also being tracked by Chelsea.

Having seen their talismanic attacker Wilfried Zaha leave for Galatsaray last week, Palace fans will hope 19-year-old Franca can quickly show why he arrives in England with such a strong reputation.

Speaking to the club's website, Franca said: "I'm very happy to be here. I hope I can bring good results for our supporters, for the other players and everybody else in the team.

"I'm very excited for my first game here at my new home, giving my best for Palace.

"I hope all the supporters are happy with me coming here. I bet it is going to be good for all of us."

Franca has represented his country at various youth levels and netted nine times in 54 appearances for his former club.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said: "Palace have a long history of attacking players with skill, pace, and tenacity.

"I am sure Matheus will be another popular addition to the nucleus of this young and entertaining squad, packed full of international talent and potential, that we are building here in south London."

Rio-born Franca has penned a five-year deal at Selhurst Park and will hope to feature in his new club's Premier League opener at Sheffield United next weekend.

The teenager becomes the second addition to Roy Hodgson's squad this summer after the capture of Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerma.
