Royal Ascot prepares for the fifth and final day
Royal Ascot prepares for the fifth and final day

There's plenty to look forward to on the final day of Royal Ascot — including the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at 4.20pm over six furlongs.

We've selected five horses worth following.

2.30pm - Chesham Stakes (Listed, 7f)

Coolmore and Godolphin may dominate the Chesham Stakes and Aidan O'Brien has excellent prospects of winning this contest for the fourth time in six years with POINT LONSDALE.

The Australia colt was all business on debut at the Curragh (7f, soft), eventually pulling clear for a 5½-length win in a good time. He's a brother to Broome and he can sweep these rivals aside.

New Science won well at Yarmouth on debut for Charlie Appleby and should pose the chief threat, though re-opposing Reach For The Moon should get closer to him, and Goodwood soft-ground winner Masekela is no forlorn hope either.

LiveScore Selection: Point Lonsdale

3.05pm - Jersey Stakes (Group 3, 7f)

The Jersey looks wide open and lots will fancy their chances. Amongst them will be Mutasaabeq and Naval Crown - both held in the 2000 Guineas last month - and Creative Force, who joins Naval Crown and the completely unexposed Storm Damage as a trio of Godolphin runners.

TACTICAL was behind Creative Force at Newbury last time but dropping to 6f didn't seem to suit him there. He had earlier got up gamely to defeat Naval Crown over this distance at Newmarket and he can go well in the Royal silks now for Oisin Murphy and Andrew Balding.

He's got winning Royal Ascot form in the bank and can almost certainly give the more fancied runners something to worry about back here.

LiveScore Selection: Tactical

3.40pm - Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2, 1m4f)

Aidan O'Brien will be hoping for more Ascot success

Aidan O'Brien saddles four contenders in an attempt to improve his relatively poor strike rate in the Hardwicke Stakes and Broome could be best of them.

Sir Michael Stoute, by contrast, has six wins in this race since 2010 and runs Highest Ground - a lively each-way player.

HUKUM won a handicap at this meeting last summer, beating a strong field, and continues to improve after a Group 3 win and St Leger fourth in the autumn. The trip was against him on seasonal return but he arrives here having won a Listed contest at Goodwood on soft going.

Conditions hold no fears for Owen Burrows son of Sea The Stars and he's got strong claims with the distinct chance of further progress to come.

LiveScore Selection: Hukum

4.20pm - Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Group 1, 6f)

The final piece of the Group 1 jigsaw for this meeting. Starman will be popular after his York Group 2 win last month. He just about got the better of Nahaarr there, while a host of these were further back. His only career defeat, however, came over C&D on soft ground.

Ilaraab remains unbeaten and progressive and merits a stab at this big prize but, after near misses in 2019 & 2020 (both by a head), this might be the day for DREAM OF DREAMS to conquer the Diamond Jubilee mountain.

He's a soft-ground Group 1 winner already and Ryan Moore will be keen to stay close to the pace having come home so strongly last year. He can land this at the third attempt for trainer Sir Michael Stoute.

LiveScore Selection: Dream Of Dreams

6.10pm - Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions Race, 2m5½f)

The last race of Royal Ascot and the longest flat-race run on British soil, it can end as it began, with 'Mr Ascot' Frankie Dettori in winning form.

FALCON EIGHT came wide around the final bend in last month's Chester Cup but still won with plenty to spare. He had last year's winner of this race, Who Dares Wins, well behind that day and has very favourable conditions for the follow-up attempt. He can give Dettori and Dermot Weld the curtain-call Royal Ascot prize.

LiveScore Selection: Falcon Eight
