Choices aplenty for Glass Slippers 

Trainer Kevin Ryan will pick between two Group One races for Glass Slippers after her encouraging run at Goodwood last week. 

The five-year-old has already been a star performer at the highest level, winning three Group One races. 

In 2019, she won the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp and followed that up last year with wins at Curragh and Keeneland. 

Last week, she was beaten to third in the Group Two King George Qatar Stakes at Glorious Goodwood — on her belated seasonal reappearance after being forced to miss Royal Ascot. 

But Ryan was happy with her display and will now pick between the Nunthorpe Stakes at York in August or the defence of her Flying Five crown at Curragh. 

He said: "I was delighted with Glass Slippers — she ran a great race. 

"She's come out of the race well and will improve a lot for the run. It bodes well for the rest of the year with her. 

"She's in the Nunthorpe and the Flying Five — and we'll decide which way we go nearer the time." 

Zain Claudette primed for Group Two run 

Ismail Mohammad says Zain Claudette is ready to step up in class with an entry in the Lowther Stakes at York. 

The filly has already won twice, taking a maiden event at Newmarket in June before winning the Group Three Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot last month. 

Mohammad is now set to progress her once more with run in August's York feature — a six-furlong for fillies. 

He said: "She's doing very well, we're giving her a bit of good work this week and the following week she will do some work on the grass.

"She's ready for the big race [the Lowther], the big jump, so far she is very well. 

"After the race [the Princess Margaret], she was different, she's improved day in, day out, she's very fresh." 

Tarnawa set for Leopardstown return 

Trainer Dermot Weld will be happy to see Tarnawa back in action on Thursday — but is exercising a note of caution. 

The five-year-old enjoyed a fabulous unbeaten 2020, which included two Group One successes in France before a Breeders' Cup triumph at Keeneland in November. 

Tarnawa has not been seen since then but has been entered into the Grant Thornton Ballyroan Stakes — a race she is expected to win with relative ease. 

Weld admits the late seasonal reappearance was planned but admits conditions during the summer have not helped with training. 

The Rosewell House trainer said: "It worked really successfully for her last year [from August] — she won her two Group Ones in France and the Breeders' Cup Turf and I thought we'd kind of follow a similar pattern.

"But possibly because we've had a very, very dry and warm summer in Ireland and the ground has been pretty firm I would have liked to have got a bit more work into her. But I'm happy with the filly physically and mentally."

Bangkok to explore the world 

York Stakes winner Bangkok could be set for runs in the USA, Bahrain and Hong Kong with slim pickings in Europe. 

The five-year-old has extensive experience of racing overseas with runs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia on his CV. 

Another tilt in the £500,000 Bahrain International Trophy in November is expected after he finished ninth last year. 

Racing manager Alastair Donald said: "There aren't many options for him in Europe, so we are going to go for the race in America and he will hopefully also go to Bahrain and Hong Kong later in the year. 

"He needs fast ground and in the autumn over here you aren't really going to get that normally. We would need to supplement him for the Juddmonte and that would be a very brave decision to do so."
