Jessica Pegula has recorded 33 wins this year and has now reached the quarter-finals in all Grand Slams

- Jessica Pegula one of only four players to have surpassed 30 wins in 2023
- Marketa Vondrousova has been unseeded at Wimbledon this year
- Recommended bet: Jessica Pegula to win 2-0

The quarter-finals of Wimbledon roll around on Tuesday and one of the first to take place will be the clash between fourth seed Jessica Pegula and Czech ace Marketa Vondrousova.

This is uncharted territory for both players at SW19, although Pegula can celebrate becoming only the fifth American woman to reach the last eight of all four Grand Slams in the last quarter century.

In the fourth round, Pegula crushed Lesia Tsurenko 6-1 6-3, while Vondrousova recovered from a set down to beat compatriot Marie Bouzkova 2-6 6-4 6-3.

The stats

Pegula's straight-sets win over Tsurenko in the fourth round at Wimbledon was wrapped up in only 75 minutes and was her 33rd win on the WTA tour this season.

That victory also means Pegula has now reached the quarter-finals of all four Grand Slams, having made the last eight at the Australian Open once again earlier this year.

Six of Vondrousova's last seven matches in all competitions, including her German Open campaign in Berlin, have been settled in just two sets.

Pegula made a fast start to her contest against Tsurenko last time out, winning 11 of the first 13 games while she broke the Ukrainian's serve five times in the match.

Prediction

Czech star Vondrousova has recorded some impressive wins at Wimbledon this year, dumping out 12th seed Veronika Kudermetova and 20th seed Donna Vekic before reaching the fourth round.

But it is worth noting that in her four previous campaigns at the All England Club, she had picked up a grand total of one win, so she does not have much Wimbledon experience behind her.

The same could be said for Pegula, although the American has shown herself to be a consistent threat at Grand Slams, having reached the quarter-finals of each of them at least once since the start of 2022.

In preparation for Wimbledon, she reached the quarter-finals of the Eastbourne International, before losing to fellow American Coco Gauff, while earlier in the season she was a finalist at the Qatar Open and a semi-finalist at the Dubai Tennis Championships, Miami Open and Charleston Open.

But it has been at SW19 where she has really come to life this month and since a little wobble in her opener against Lauren Davis, Pegula has won three successive matches in straight sets, dropping only 13 games in total.

With that in mind, another 2-0 win could be on the cards for the 29-year-old.
