David Moyes expressed his frustration at VAR after Tomas Soucek's late goal was ruled out for handball during their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

Soucek thought he had won the game after he bundled in a James Ward-Prowse cross but the technology deemed it to have hit his hand after a lengthy check.

Michail Antonio also had a goal disallowed for another handball in the second half.

And Moyes, 60, cut a disgruntled figure.

He told BBC Sport: "We've had two calls this week. One against Freiburg in midweek didn't go our way.

"We've had four handballs this week that didn't go for us.

"It's what VAR do, it's their decision not ours, we can't do anything about it. It's there to do the job.

"I think football people see things differently. We think they are goals but VAR are the ones who decide, not us."

Antonio opened the scoring with a legitimate goal in the first half but Nicolo Zaniolo levelled the game with 11 minutes remaining.

Moyes insisted he was pleased with his side's performance but admitted Villa provided a stern test in the second half.

He added: "In the second half, Villa stepped it up, they were the better team for periods.

"I was really pleased with how we performed overall."

The visitors missed a chance to go five points clear of Tottenham in fourth place but Unai Emery was satisfied with the fightback in the second half.

He said: "We changed tactics in the second half and we got chances to score a goal and in the end we did score.

"The second half, we deserve it more than the first half.

"It's better to win but we draw and I think it's good and we have to accept it."
