Curtis Jones wants as much playing time as possible after scoring twice in Liverpool's 5-1 Carabao Cup rout of West Ham at Anfield.

The midfielder scored the Reds' second goal early in the second half before completing the comprehensive win with a late fifth for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah were also on the scoresheet to ensure smooth progress into the semi-finals.

And Jones hopes that progression will mean more opportunities to get on the pitch.

He said: "I just want to play.

"If it's the Carabao Cup, if it's the Europa League, if it's the Premier League, if it's the FA Cup, I just want to go and play.

"Anytime that I'm out there I've got a smile on my face.

"I try and help the lads."

And Jones believes his brace can also be the start of a run of improved goalscoring form.

He said: "I want to score goals. That's what I've got to do.

"It's OK playing well but then you need to start scoring goals.

"I've scored two tonight so I've got a big smile on my face."

Liverpool remain alive in four competitions, with the chance to go top of the Premier League when they play Arsenal on Saturday evening.

And Jones' team-mate Gakpo is keen they remain concentrated on competing on all fronts.

The Dutch forward said: "We have amazing players and the only thing we have to do is stay focused, stay together and keep working hard.

"Eventually the quality will come out and we are on the right way.

"It's almost halfway through the season but at the end of the season the prizes will be handed out so that's the most important time."
