Coventry have bounced back from their recent losing streak and are looking to climb the Championship table, starting on Tuesday, when they meet a Plymouth side who are struggling for results on the road, but who could frustrate the Sky Blues in this clash.

Argyle registered a 2-0 win at home to Sunderland on Saturday to improve on their previous record of just one victory in eight games.

Team news

Mark Robins switched to a back four in order to turn Coventry’s form around and it has worked, with the Sky Blues keeping clean sheets in their last two games.

Fabio Tavares, Kasey Palmer and Liam Kelly are long-term absentees for the hosts and they will miss out again here.

The Pilgrims could switch back to a 3-4-3 system away from home, as they did in their last trip against Leeds United earlier this month, which ended in a narrow 2-1 defeat.

The stats

Just two of Coventry’s eight home games this term have seen over 2.5 goals, while Plymouth average just 0.88 goals per game on their travels.

Argyle may be winless on the road, but they have drawn three of their eight trips and Coventry have drawn five times at home this season.

Coventry’s seven Championship draws are the joint-highest in the league this term.

These two are neck-and-neck in the form table, each taking eight points from their last eight games.

Prediction

Two of the Championship’s bottom six meet on Tuesday night, with Coventry hoping their recent struggles are now behind them.

The Sky Blues lost four straight games between October and November, but a formation switch has brought consecutive clean sheets and four points from a possible six.

However, their issues at home don’t look to be behind them. Coventry have picked up just two victories at home, leaving them with one of the worst home records in the Championship.

The hosts side have drawn five times at their own ground this term, which makes up a big chunk of their league-high seven draws through 17 games this season.

While Saturday’s win at Millwall looks like a turning point, they meet a Plymouth side who can hold firm.

The visitors have lost just two of their last six games, with those defeats coming to third-placed Leeds and second-placed Ipswich.

The visitors are winless on their travels, but with three away draws to their name they’ve proven capable of hanging with teams.

Coventry have found goals hard to come by at home, failing to win their last three at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

During that run they have scored just once, while the Pilgrims have proven capable of finding the net since making the jump up from League One, so expect them to return from this trip with a point.
