- Bristol City have drawn three of their Championship games this season
- Plymouth drew 0-0 at Watford in August
- Recommended bet: Draw

There is a South-West derby to look forward to in the Championship on Tuesday as Bristol City take on Plymouth Argyle at Ashton Gate.

The Robins are unbeaten in their last two matches, winning 2-1 at Swansea City before the international break and resuming their campaign with a 0-0 draw at home to West Brom.

Argyle head up the M5 after losing 2-1 at Preston on Saturday and are on a worrying run of three defeats in four Championship games.

However, they previously drew 0-0 at Watford and will feel they should have done better at Deepdale, where they were hit hard by an early goal from Duane Holmes.

Team news

City can bring Taylor Gardner-Hickman back after being ineligible to face his parent club, West Brom, on Saturday.

Andi Weimann is still sidelined with an ankle injury, while Ross McCrorie is a long-term absentee due to a bacterial infection.

Michael Cooper, Brendan Galloway, Macaulay Gillesphey and Saxon Earley are all missing for Argyle.

Boss Steve Schumacher may look to freshen things up after the defeat at Preston, with Dan Scarr and Adam Randell among the players in contention for a recall.

The stats

City have lost just once in the Championship this season, although that reverse came at home to Birmingham City in August.

In fact, the Robins remain winless at Ashton Gate this season, with their two victories in 2023-24 both coming on the road.

Plymouth took four points from their first two Championship games, but have subsequently lost to Southampton, Birmingham and Preston.

Their sole win came in their penultimate outing at home against Blackburn Rovers, but their away record has been hindered by conceding early goals.

Both Birmingham and Preston scored with less than 10 minutes on the clock and Schumacher will be desperate to see his side keep things tight early on at Ashton Gate.

Prediction

Steven Schumacher will be hoping Plymouth are tough opponents at Ashton Gate

Inconsistency has again been an issue for the Robins under Nigel Pearson and their inability to put a run of results together could again hinder their hopes of promotion.

City’s away record has been good this season, but they have failed to get going in BS3 and could be frustrated again.

Argyle are still to fully adapt to Championship football, but their attacking play, scoring in five of their six Championship games, means they always carry a threat.

The Pilgrims can again prove to be awkward customers on Tuesday and with City having shared the points twice in their last three games, another tie could beckon.
