England will take a 1-0 lead into Wednesday's second T20 international against Australia, but the tourists could face a stiffer test in Canberra.

Jos Buttler's men won by eight runs in Perth although the victory was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests, with the 200+ target always a stretch for the hosts.

Having recently played a T20 series against the West Indies, the Aussies decided to rest some of their big guns and they are likely to return on Wednesday.

Team news

Four of Australia's first-choice bowling attack didn't feature in Perth, but they are all being tipped to return in Canberra, including the top T20 ranked bowler Pat Cummins.

The Australian vice-captain has 50 T20 wickets in 44 internationals and will add another dimension to the bowling threat.

Fellow pace bowlers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood are also expected to start having missed the series opener, while spin ace Adam Zampa is also in contention.

It would be a surprise if the England selectors made any changes after their solid victory on Sunday, when Alex Hales and Mark Wood were the stars.

Opener Hales, back in the England fold, top scored with 84 while Wood was the pick of the bowlers, with figures of 3-34.

The stats

T20 internationals in Canberra have tended to be relatively lowing scoring, with the highest total 161 from the three previous internationals at this ground.

The bowlers have also enjoyed an overall economy rate of 7.30, with just three half-centuries scored across the three matches and the highest individual score was an unbeaten 80 for Steve Smith.

Australia have won two of three internationals at the Manuka Oval, beating Pakistan and Sri Lanka but losing by 11 runs to India in 2020.

Kane Richardson played in the first match against England and the Australia selectors might decide to stick with the 31-year-old paceman, as he has fond memories of Canberra.

Richardson took 3-21 in the February clash with Sri Lanka, which the hosts won by six wickets with 19 balls remaining.

England though have enjoyed good recent success over their old rivals in the shortest format, winning four of their last five meetings in T20 internationals.

Prediction

With the bowling big guns returning and with England having no previous experience of the venue, the hosts will fancy their chances of levelling the series.

Australia will not want to lose a home series to their big rivals prior to the T20 World Cup, which will also be on home soil and will certainly add more importance to this clash.

Such is the evenly matched nature of the two teams, both sides are odds-on to win Wednesday's encounter so it's worth looking at some of the other markets if you are seeking the value.

Aussie skipper Aaron Finch has been moved up and down the order in recent games and batted at four in the opener against England.

The 35-year-old scored a half-century against the West Indies earlier this month and has two scores of 35 in his last two T20 matches at Canberra.

A run-out dismissal in the first match of the three-game series will have been frustrating and the captain is a tempting 11/2 to be Australia's top batsman on Wednesday.
