Huddersfield vs QPR predictions: Lowly Londoners to stop the rot

&w=707&quality=100)
- Huddersfield have won just two of 12 matches this season
- QPR's last four Championship victories have come on their travels
- Recommended bet: QPR or draw double chance
At this early stage of the season the majority of Championship teams have aspirations of pushing for promotion, but a handful would settle for preserving second-tier status, including Huddersfield Town and QPR, who face each other in a key encounter at the John Smith's Stadium.
Huddersfield are hopeful of an improvement in fortunes under Darren Moore, who was appointed head coach four weeks ago.
He has presided over three draws and one loss to leave his side in 19th place, three points above the drop zone.
QPR stayed inside the bottom three after a 4-0 loss at home to Blackburn Rovers last time out and they need a swift upturn in results to ease the pressure on manager Gareth Ainsworth.
Team news
Jonathan Hogg returned from injury to feature in the Terriers' 0-0 draw at Sheffield Wednesday, but Ollie Turton (knee), Danny Ward, Loick Ayina (both Achilles) and David Kasumu (hamstring) remained sidelined.
Utility man Yuto Nakayama will need to be assessed upon his return from international duty with Japan.
QPR must check on their players returning from international duty, including centre-forward Lyndon Dykes, who started Scotland's 2-0 loss away to Spain in Euro 2024 qualifying.
Defender Morgan Fox suffered a knee injury in last month's 3-1 loss at home to Coventry and hasn't featured since.
The stats
Huddersfield have shared the points in four of their last five Championship matches.
The Terriers have won just one of their five Championship home games and have registered just two clean sheets among 12 matches in league and cup.
QPR are on a three-game losing sequence and a six-match winless run.
The Hoops have collected eight points and seven of those have come on their travels and each of their last four Championship victories have come in away fixtures.
The struggling Londoners have failed to score in three of their last four matches.
Prediction
QPR have been finding it very difficult to perform at Loftus Road, but they have been much more competitive on their travels and can avoid defeat against fellow strugglers Huddersfield in Yorkshire.
Pressure has been mounting on QPR boss Ainsworth, who watched his team slump to a 4-0 loss at home to Blackburn before the international break.
But Ainsworth's side have looked happier when on their travels and they were far from disgraced when losing 1-0 at Leeds earlier this month.
QPR are perhaps better suited to playing on the road because they carry a counter-attacking threat with the pace of attackers Sinclair Armstrong and Paul Smyth.
And their capacity to defend well and soak up pressure should be enhanced now that central defender Jimmy Dunne is fully recovered from early-season injury problems.
QPR are likely to sit deep and that may not suit Huddersfield, who lack creativity within their ranks.
The Terriers prefer to play a counter-punching style and they may be on the wrong end of a similar strategy from QPR, who look overpriced to snap their three-game losing streak.
