Ella Toone scored a late winner as England produced a stunning comeback to beat the Netherlands 3-2.

The victory saw the hosts keep their bid to secure Great Britain's qualification for the 2024 Olympics alive.

Lineth Beerensteyn scored a first-half brace to silence a 72,000-strong Wembley crowd.

Georgia Stanway started the comeback in the 58th minute and Lauren Hemp grabbed an equaliser two minutes later.

In the dying moments of the game, Lauren James' perfectly weighted cross was met by Toone who secured a dramatic late winner.

England keep the dream alive

Any result other than a win for England would have been disastrous in their hopes of reaching the Paris Olympics.

After the victory, the Lionesses trail the Netherlands on goal difference at the top of both lead Group A1, with both teams on nine points.

The visitors lead by three strikes and after Toone scored the winner, she ran back to her position instead of celebrating.

England will reach the Nations League finals with a win over Scotland in their final match, provided the Netherlands do not beat Belgium.

They would then still have to reach the final or finish third and hope France win the tournament to book their trip to Paris.

Brilliant comeback

With just over half an hour left, England appeared set for a disastrous evening.

James injected some quality into the game when her fantastic chipped ball found Stanway, who flicked a header into the bottom corner.

That goal gave the Lionesses a new-found energy and it only took two minutes for Hemp to curl in a fantastic strike off the post to level the game.

England eventually found the dramatic winner they were chasing when James once again picked out Toone, who finished well.

Defensive errors

Despite the electric comeback, England's first half showing was full of errors.

It only took a long goal kick from Victoria Pelova to exploit the Lionesses for the early opener.

Beerensteyn beat the offside trap and Lucy Bronze was not alive enough to the danger.

For Netherlands' second, Keira Walsh was caught on the ball and Jess Carter should have cleared her lines but failed.

Beerensteyn eventually won possession and her tame shot slithered under keeper Mary Earps.

Queen James

Lauren James injected some much needed creativity

James once again showed her quality in an England shirt.

She sparked the comeback for the Lionesses' first, chipping in a delightful ball to an unmarked Stanway.

And just as the game was petering out into a draw, the Chelsea star lofted a teasing ball to Toone, who tucked home with her first touch.

James' creative spark is England's main threat when faced with a stubborn defence.

Beerensteyn class

Despite the narrative around the game being centred around the hosts, Beerensteyn stole the show in the first half.

For the opener only 12 minutes into the game, she squeezed in between England's defenders and finished past Earps.

The 27-year-old secured her brace after pouncing on a loose pass, shifting the ball onto her right foot and sliding the ball into the bottom corner.

She has been a lethal operator this season, scoring five league goals for Juventus.
