There are some surprise names at the top of the scoring charts around Europe and they all have opportunities to extend their runs this weekend.

We have identified five stars to follow. Some are more recognised than others but all have started their 2023-24 campaigns in excellent fashion.

A lack of an out-and-out striker has hurt Denmark over the years but they have now stumbled upon two, with Rasmus Hojlund signing for Manchester United over the summer and Jonas Wind starring for Wolfsburg.

The 24-year-old has scored all four of Die Wolfe's Bundesliga goals this season, helping them beat Heidenheim 2-0 and Cologne 2-1.

Add in that he also netted in the cup victory at Makkabi and he looks to be a player for customers to follow against Hoffenheim, who have conceded two goals against both Freiburg and Heidenheim.

Monaco's Wissam Ben Yedder has enjoyed a fabulous start to the season, netting four goals in three Ligue 1 matches.

His side host Lens on Saturday evening and clearly carry a scoring threat, with Takumi Minamino also having scored three times.

Ben Yedder is the better of the two, though, and will expect to gain plenty of chances against a Lens' defence that has conceded three times in both of their away games so far in 2023-24.

Even Jude Bellingham would not have dared dream how well things have gone for him so far at Real Madrid.

The Englishman has scored in all three of his La Liga outings this term, tallying four goals in total and makes his competitive home debut against Getafe on Saturday.

With the Bernabeu crowd behind him, Bellingham could strike again.

Lautaro Martinez has made a quick start to the season and will be looking to continue his fine recent record against Fiorentina

The battle for Serie A's Capocannoniere is already well and truly alive, with Milan's Olivier Giroud and last year's winner Victor Osimhen of Napoli both having netted three times in their two games this season.

The same can be said for Inter's Lautaro Martinez, who opened with a brace against Monza before grabbing a goal at Cagliari last Monday.

Next up for Inter is Sunday's visit of Fiorentina. The Argentina international scored four times across three matches against the Viola last term, most recently netting twice in May's Coppa Italia final and seems primed to go again.

Kevin Behrens has had to work his way up to the top and at 32, looks set to enjoy his best Bundesliga season after scoring four times in Union Berlin's first two games.

The forward opened the campaign with a hat-trick at home against Mainz and, after netting at the weekend against Darmstadt, he returns to Stadion An der Alten Forsterai looking to continue his run.

Few would have expected Behrens and Wind to lead the Bundesliga scoring charts after two games and the former is a real contender to expose a Leipzig defence that has conceded in both matches, four in total, this season.
