Salford kept up their hopes of a League Two play-off charge with a thrilling 3-2 win at Hayes Lane.

Despite taking an early lead, Bromley found themselves 3-1 down just after the hour mark and although Michael Cheek’s goal set up a grandstand finish, the Ammies held on for a second successive win that keeps them six points off the top seven.

Bromley went ahead after eight minutes when Ossama Ashley turned Adam Mayor’s cross into his own net but Salford were level within 10 minutes.

Ashley atoned for his error by feeding Cole Stockton to shoot low past Grant Smith.

Salford took the lead for the first time when Haji Mnoga worked space for Kelly Mnai to shoot beyond Smith in the 28th minute.

Corey Whitely should have equalised just before the interval but he skewed his shot wide with only Matthew Young to beat.

Stockton stretched Salford’s advantage in the 62nd minute when he took advantage of loose defending but Cheek’s 18th league goal of the season set up a tense end, the striker meeting Ashley Charles’ corner with a fine half-volley.

Bromley pushed for a late equaliser over the remaining 16 minutes, but Brooklyn Ilunga curled an effort narrowly wide as Salford held out for all three points.
