Group B is the unofficial Women's Euro 2022 group of death with favourites Spain set to face the tournament's most decorated side Germany.

La Roja have been tipped by many as the ones to beat in England this summer thanks to a squad boasting several world-class players.

However, eight-time winners Germany have plenty of experience in their ranks as well as some rising stars.

Denmark, runners-up in 2017, will also have something to say while minnows Finland will hope to compete against their formidable rivals.

Spain can reign

Spain's best showing at a Euros was reaching the semi-finals way back in 1997 but they are an emerging nation when it comes to women's football and will be expecting to fare well.

They are on a 22-game unbeaten run since March 2020 when they lost to the great United States team.

Their squad is packed full of Barcelona stars from Barcelona — widely regarded as the best club side in the world despite their Champions League final loss — including Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas and captain Irene Paredes.

The crucial game for them will be against Germany on July 12 at the Brentford Community Stadium and a positive result there will lay down a big marker.

Germany to tough it out

On the face of it, Germany should be the team to beat with so much experience behind them.

However, they have not enjoyed the best 2022 and managed only a solitary draw against Spain in the Arnold Clark Cup with losses to Canada and England following.

They were also surprisingly beaten 3-2 by Serbia away from home in World Cup qualifying in April, so there is certainly some vulnerability to this German outfit.

However, it would be unwise to discount them as they do have some real star players on their books.

Bayern Munich forward Lea Schuller arrives on the back of a fabulous season for her club and her record of 25 goals in 39 international caps speaks for itself.

Manager Martina Voss-Tecklenburg won the competition four times as a player and will be able to impart that wisdom to her squad.

Valiant Danes to fall short

Denmark achieved their best ever result in 2017 by reaching the final and were denied a famous victory by the Netherlands in a 4-2 loss.

It was a great run and they picked up some scalps with Norway and Germany both beaten along the way.

The Danes are stacked with options in attack — Chelsea forward Pernille Harder will bring quality and experience after scoring 68 goals in 133 caps while Nadia Nadim is also one to watch.

They arrive into the tournament on the back of four wins in a row but ultimately, Spain and Germany should prove too good and Denmark may have to settle for third.
