Even though the US Open took place last weekend, a star-studded field will head to Connecticut for this week's Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands.

Sheffield's Matthew Fitzpatrick came out on top last week at The Country Club to land his first Major and has decided to take a break after that triumph.

That leaves the likes of Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay to fight it out.

Some of the best players in the world have shot some eye-catching rounds here in the last few years and we could be in for another thrilling finish come Sunday.

Familiar territory for Cantlay

Fitzpatrick used his previous form at Brookline last week to win the US Open and American Cantlay, who landed his seventh PGA title at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April this year, will be hoping to follow suit.

The world No6 set the course record 11 years ago with a 10-under-par 60, only for that to be beaten by Jim Furyk in 2016.

While the likes of McIlroy, Thomas and Scheffler have played relentlessly in recent weeks, Cantlay has taken the odd break and he could be refreshed and raring to go.

He finished T14 at the US Open and the signs suggest the 30-year-old could go close this week.

Bradley looking back to his best

Four-time PGA Tour winner Keegan Bradley may not have won on the United States circuit since 2018 but he has looked in fine form on home soil of late and has posted four top-10 finishes in his last eight tournaments.

The world No44 finished T7 at the US Open last week, while he settled for a share of second at the Wells Fargo Championship earlier in the campaign.

Bradley has also performed well at TPC River Highlands — finishing runner-up at the course three years ago — and he could be in contention this week.

Momentum on McCarthy's side

While Denny McCarthy's course form is relatively poor, he arrives here on a high after recording successive top-10 finishes at the Memorial Tournament and the US Open.

The world No93 is one of the best putters on Tour and this could prove very handy with a low-scoring event expected.

McCarthy is sixth in strokes gained putting on the PGA Tour this season, while he is also eighth in scrambling to further highlight his strong short game.

The American, who is 18th in scoring average in this campaign, is yet to land his first title on the US circuit but the signs appear to suggest that breakthrough is not far away.
