Harry Kane would be a real statement signing for Manchester United

Manchester United appear set to dive into the summer sales to snap up a new centre forward.

It was clear during last weekend's 3-1 win over Fulham that Wout Weghorst will not be the long-term solution should the Red Devils decide to turn his loan into a permanent switch.

Anthony Martial has shown flashes of quality for the Red Devils but cannot be relied on to stay out of the treatment room

So as United prepare to take on Newcastle, we consider who they could target to help Marcus Rashford shoulder the burden.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane has just one year left on his contract and could move on from Tottenham in search of silverware.

The England captain, 29, has bagged 21 goals in the Premier League this season, also creating a remarkable 43 chances.

Erik ten Hag would have no doubts about his ability to perform, given the striker's experience in the top flight over the past nine seasons.

Bringing Kane to Old Trafford would be a strong statement of intent by United.

Victor Osimhen

Partly due to the efforts of Victor Osimhen, who has netted 21 goals in Serie A this term, Napoli look set to win the Scudetto.

And ex-United marksman Andy Cole believes the Nigerian should be the club's No1 target. He said: "Kane is 30 this year, Victor Osimhen is 24 — and he's already done a lot at his age.

"Italian football is difficult but there will be no doubts over whether he can adapt to the Premier League.

"If United want to pay £100million for a 24-year-old or a 30-year-old, you have to look at it in the long-term.

"Osimhen is near the same age as Erling Haaland and look what he's doing at the moment. If Haaland stays at Manchester City for another four years, he'll still be worth £100m or more, so it depends on what United are looking for."

Randal Kolo Muani

After netting from the spot on Friday night, Randal Kolo Muani boasts 12 goals in 25 Bundesliga appearances this term.

His form saw him included in France's World Cup squad last winter and the Bondy native would have won them the final had it not been for the heroics of Emiliano Martinez.

On top of Kolo Muani's surging runs, he works hard off the ball and is an interesting alternative for Ten Hag to consider.

Rasmus Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund is having a breakout year and headed into this weekend with seven league goals — all from open play — for Atalanta.

The 20-year-old also enjoyed an impressive international break, scoring five goals in Denmark's opening two Euro 2024 qualifying fixtures.

In January, Hojlund revealed he grew up a United fan, which could prove decisive in the race for his signature.

He said: "Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact I am a huge United fan.

"So it would be one of the biggest things for me. But of course, that doesn't mean I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point."

Goncalo Ramos

Goncalo Ramos has been an unstoppable force for league leaders Benfica.

The striker, 21, announced himself on the world stage in Qatar by scoring a hat-trick in Portugal's 6-1 win over Switzerland in the round of 16.

Since then, he has continued his scoring form at club level, netting 19 times in all competitions, with three coming in the Champions League.

His movement and anticipation make him a real goal threat and with countryman Bruno Fernandes at United to help him settle in, he would be an exciting addition.
