Transfer Talk: Red Devils eye Sevilla stopper Bounou
Manchester United are ready to raid LaLiga for another goalkeeper with Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou in their sights.
The 30-year-old stopper — a Canadian-born Moroccan international — has impressed for the Andalusian outfit this term with 13 clean sheets in 23 LaLiga appearances.
Known affectionately as Bono, The Mirror say his exploits have alerted several European clubs including the Red Devils.
Of course, United snapped up their long-standing No1 David de Gea from Spanish powerhouses Atletico Madrid back in 2011.
It is thought that Bounou has a £25million release clause in his current deal which expires in June 2024.
Sevilla are desperate to tie him down to a new agreement which would up that fee to £63m, though such efforts are looking increasingly in vain as rival interest grows.
De Gea, 31, has 18 months left on his current deal at Old Trafford but has recently hinted that he is in no rush to depart Manchester.
That suggests No2 Dean Henderson could be the man to suffer from a deal for Bounou — with the Englishman not short of admirers himself.
Henderson, 25, has not made a Premier League appearance this term and both Newcastle and Tottenham have previously shown interest in the Three Lions international.
Likely to fetch a significant fee should United opt to cash in, Henderson’s departure could logically fund a prospective move for Bounou with cash to spare.
