Tranmere and Barrow could not been separated in their bid to move away from the Sky Bet League Two relegation zone after a 1-1 draw at Prenton Park.

The visitors were ahead in the 12th minute when Robbie Gotts’ speculative strike flew past Luke McGee in the Rovers’ goal courtesy of a heavy deflection off Jordan Turnbull.

Tranmere were level in the 34th minute when Harvey Saunders was bundled over in the area by Barrow goalkeeper Paul Farman and Omari Patrick made no mistake from the resulting penalty.

The hosts almost went in ahead at half-time as Kieron Morris saw his curling shot from range flash narrowly wide with Farman well beaten.

Both sides went in search of a winner after the break and Turnbull almost made amends for his part in Barrow’s opener, heading over from a corner, while Patrick was twice denied by Farman.

At the other end, Elliot Newby was twice denied by McGee, with the resulting rebound bouncing off a post from the second effort.

In a frantic ending, Theo Vassell’s header cannoned off the crossbar before McGee thwarted Barrow substitute Andy Dallas, while Kristian Dennis was denied by Farman at the death.
