Stoke City will attempt to halt a four-game winless run in the Championship when they host a Hull City side unbeaten in six on Sunday afternoon.

The Potters have encountered problems in both penalty areas recently, with Alex Neil stressing the need for goals prior to Wednesday's 2-2 draw at Huddersfield Town and then pointing the finger at his team's defending afterwards.

Stoke sit two places above the relegation zone going into this televised clash with the Tigers, who occupy sixth place after back-to-back home draws against Coventry City and Leeds United.

Hull almost snatched victory against Daniel Farke's side on Wednesday, but Adama Traore spurned a gilt-edged opportunity a minute from time when he somehow hit the post from seven yards with the goal gaping.

For the hosts Ben Pearson will miss out after picking up his fifth booking of the season in the midweek draw at Huddersfield.

Jordan Thompson looks likely to replace the former Bournemouth player in the middle of the park, unless Neil opts to bring Bae Junho in on the left and switch Daniel Johnson to the centre.

Only Sheffield Wednesday and Preston have committed more fouls than Stoke (92) in the division, while only Southampton have received more yellow cards than the Potters (22).

Hull are unbeaten in their last six Championship games with the Tigers' only league defeat this term coming courtesy of a disputed 96th-minute winner at Norwich on the opening weekend.

Hull have proved to be one of the hardest teams to defeat in the Championship this season while playing out one of its toughest fixture schedules.

Their only defeat in a run of games against three of the pre-season promotion favourites, plus last season's defeated play-off finalists Coventry, came in controversial circumstances at Norwich.

The Tigers are well-organised and will not lack forward power this weekend with the likely return of Tufan to their starting line-up.

They are often at their best on the road too, having inflicted Leicester City’s only defeat of the season on them at King Power Stadium earlier this month.

It should spell trouble for Stoke, whose form over the last four games is the joint-worst in the division.
