Things are not looking good for Matt Taylor but his Rotherham side does have a good recent record against QPR

- Rotherham and QPR have won four league matches between them in 27 fixtures this season
- QPR have lost seven of their last nine matches, drawing twice
- Recommended bet: Rotherham to win

Rotherham and QPR are both in a miserable position towards the bottom of the Championship and already the pair look in serious danger of relegation.

And they are familiar to those survival struggles as the beleaguered pair each finished on 50 points last season, just six clear of the bottom three, and they look in even worse shape this time around.

Only Sheffield Wednesday are keeping the Hoops off bottom spot, and the Owls boosted their own sorry situation with a win over Rotherham at the weekend. That was a blow for the Millers, who are third from bottom just a point better off than QPR, who could have a new man in the dugout in Marti Cifuentes.

It is not quite time to panic just yet, but this game could be pivotal in how the rest of the campaign pans out for the struggling duo.

Team news

Andre Green is out for the season, while Rotherham must also make do without Jamie Lindsay, Grant Hall, Shane Ferguson, Tyler Blackett and Cameron Humphreys.

QPR will be without Andre Dozzell who is serving a one-match ban for his red card in the home defeat to Leicester last Saturday.

He joins injured duo Jake Clarke-Salter and Morgan Fox on the sidelines, and, although Steve Cook is nearing a return, this game may just come too soon.

The stats

Marti Cifuentes has had little time to assess his QPR squad after his appointment this week

Rotherham have lost just one of their last seven meetings with QPR.

Both teams have scored in the last eight meetings between the two.

Six of the last eight meetings have featured three goals or more.

QPR have seen four different players sent off this season, while Rotherham have seen red twice.

Rotherham have scored in all seven of their home fixtures this season.

QPR have been shut out in four of their last seven matches.

Prediction

This is almost a must-win fixture for these two struggling sides who sit well inside the bottom three of the Championship after a shocking start to the season.

Gareth Ainsworth paid the price for QPR's poor form by being sacked by the west London club following the 2-1 defeat to Leicester at the weekend and he has quickly been replaced by Spaniard Cifuentes, who has spent the past two seasons at Swedish top-flight side Hammarby.

Cifuentes will be expected to get the Hoops moving in the right direction sooner rather than later, but it may be too much to ask to get a result at Rotherham after having just four days to prepare.

It is hard to have too much faith in the home side either, but they have a great record in this fixture and are fancied to edge to a vital three points.

The Millers lost to Sheffield Wednesday last time out, but they are a tougher nut to crack on home soil where they have scored in all seven of their fixtures in this campaign.

One goal may be all it takes to win this encounter, and if Rotherham can get their noses in front, it may be hard for the Londoners to peg them back, having been shut out in four of their last seven fixtures.
