Ryan Lowe's Preston look set for a real battle against visitors Coventry on Saturday

- Four of the last seven games between these two teams have seen one goal or fewer
- Preston have taken three points from the last 21 available
- Recommended bet: Under 1.5 goals

Preston and Coventry have both been struggling in recent weeks, and the pair will be desperate to regain the winning thread when they face off in this Championship clash on Saturday.

The Sky Blues came within a penalty shootout of the Premier League last season but have had a disappointing campaign this time around, winning just three of their 14 games.

Preston started the season in excellent form, winning six of their opening seven games. However Ryan Lowe's side have not picked up a victory in the seven matches since then.

Team news

For Preston, Calvin Ramsay has begun training but this game may come too soon for the Liverpool loanee.

Callum O'Hare has been stepping up his recovery for Coventry and could well feature again from the bench as he works his way back to full fitness.

Haji Wright failed to make an impact against West Brom and may make way as a result.

The stats

Preston have won six of the last eight meetings between these two teams.

North End have also lost just one of their seven home games in the second tier. However, the hosts are winless in their last seven matches.

The last eight head-to-heads between these two sides have gone under 2.5 goals.

Prediction

Preston and Coventry find themselves near the bottom of the Championship form table and both need to reverse what have been disappointing recent runs.

The Sky Blues are missing Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer badly, both of whom departed in the summer, and their new-look squad has not stepped up to fill the holes left by their two talismen from last season.

Mark Robins' side have now taken just 15 points from 14 games and lost 2-0 to rivals West Brom on Monday.

Goals have been a major issue for Coventry. They have netted just 17 times in 14 matches as new signings Ellis Simms and Wright have failed to replace the output of Gyokeres.

The Sky Blues look set to be involved in another low-scoring affair when they visit Preston, who will be low on confidence after failing to win any of their last seven matches.

North End have netted just six times in that run and a cagey match is the likely result between these two strugglers.

Lowe's side have typically had tight affairs with Coventry and four of the last seven games between these two have gone under 1.5 goals so with both teams desperate to avoid defeat, another low-scoring matchup is the pick.
