West Ham struggled away from home towards the end of David Moyes's time in charge and it has been a similar story under new manager Julen Lopetegui.

The Hammers have lost 4-1 at Tottenham and 3-0 at Nottingham Forest in their last two Premier League away fixtures and they were beaten 4-3 on their last trip to Newcastle in March.

The Magpies fought back from 3-1 down in the 77th minute that day and Eddie Howe's men are targeting a fourth straight win in all competitions on Monday night.

Team news

Newcastle's Lloyd Kelly should start at centre-back as Dan Burn is suspended and Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are injured. Emil Krafth is also sidelined and Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson face fitness tests.

West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus is suspended but midfielder Edson Alvarez returns after a ban.

Striker Niclas Fullkrug, who has had only 63 minutes of playing time in the Premier League since arriving in the summer, remains sidelined.

Newcastle have lost only one of their last 15 home games in all competitions.

The Magpies have won three of their last four home matches to nil.

Alexander Isak has scored in each of his last four appearances for Newcastle.

West Ham have conceded 13 goals in their last four away matches in all competitions.

Six of the Hammers' last 11 Premier League away fixtures have featured over 3.5 goals.

West Ham have conceded the first goal in 11 of their last 13 away league games.

Prediction

Last season's meeting between these clubs at St James' Park is mainly remembered for Newcastle's stirring comeback from 3-1 down to win 4-3.

However, star striker Alexander Isak had given the hosts a sixth-minute lead and Newcastle should be backed to make another fast start on Monday.

They went into the international break in good spirits following a 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Chelsea and league victories against Arsenal and in-form Nottingham Forest.

Isak struck the only goal of the game in the 12th minute against the Gunners and both of the Magpies' goals against Chelsea came in the first 26 minutes.

West Ham have mustered only one first-half goal in five away league fixtures this season and Mohammed Kudus, the scorer of that goal at Tottenham, is suspended.

The Hammers conceded nine first-half goals in their last three away games of last season, at Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Manchester City, and they were also thumped 5-1 by Liverpool in September's Carabao Cup tie at Anfield.

Newcastle are well capable of punishing another sluggish start from West Ham and they should be backed to be leading at half-time and full-time.
