Newcastle to win and both teams to score

Newcastle look set to extend their fine winning form into double figures when they entertain Bournemouth in the Premier League in the early game on Saturday.

The Magpies' 3-0 victory over Wolves on Wednesday secured a joint-club record of nine wins on the spin and Eddie Howe's confident outfit now look very well placed to compete for a top-four finish in the second half of the campaign.

Bournemouth are also in decent nick as the Cherries are on a nine-game unbeaten run of their own in the league, but up against a red-hot Alexander Isak and co this weekend, Andoni Iraola's men look set to struggle.

Team news

Harvey Barnes will be out for around a month with a muscle strain, joining Nick Pope and Jamaal Lascelles on the sidelines for Newcastle, while Callum Wilson and Emil Krafth are also still absent for the hosts.

Bournemouth have an extensive injury list still with Evanilson, Adam Smith, Alex Scott, Marcus Tavernier and Luis Sinisterra all unavailable for the visitors.

Julian Araujo and Marcos Senesi, meanwhile, are making progress in their recoveries from injury but are not expected back until the middle of February at the earliest.

The stats

Newcastle have scored two or more goals in each of their last 11 games, while Bournemouth have only failed to score in one of their last 15 games in all competitions.

Isak became the first Newcastle player to score in eight successive Premier League games on Wednesday – the fourth in the division's history after Ruud van Nistelrooy, Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy also achieved the feat.

Three of the last four meetings between the two clubs have ended in draws, with Bournemouth winning the other.

Howe had two separate spells in charge of the Cherries, totalling 11 years, and won promotion from League Two, League One and the Championship while at the south coast club.

Prediction

This is unlikely to be straightforward for Newcastle, despite their fine form, as Bournemouth are tricky opponents for anyone and are unbeaten themselves in the top-flight since November 23rd.

However, the Magpies have been fantastic of late and their soaring confidence should carry them over the line, while they can rely on the sensational scoring feats of Isak again.

Newcastle can emerge victorious to further boost their hopes of finishing in the top four this season, but Bournemouth are set to play their part on Saturday and can score at St James' Park.

The Cherries have a solid recent record on Tyneside, drawing on two of their last three trips there, and they have only failed to score in one of their last 15 games in all competitions.

An away goal looks likely then, but so does another home victory.
