Draw

Millwall will feel aggrieved after dominating QPR but only coming away with a point and they will be looking to bounce back with a home win over Preston on Saturday.

However, the Lilywhites will be well accustomed to the feisty atmosphere at the Den after their heated derby with Blackburn last Sunday and could give a good account of themselves in the capital.

Team news

Millwall will be without Josh Coburn, Tom Bradshaw, Calum Scanlon, Billy Mitchell and Adam Mayor for this clash, meaning they could name a similar line-up to the one which drew at QPR last weekend.

Patrick Bauer missed last Sunday’s derby with Blackburn and is a doubt for this match, while Sam Greenwood is a certain absentee after receiving a straight red card against Rovers.

The FA are investigating an alleged bite from Milutin Osmajic in that feisty derby, but no decision has been made yet and he may be available for Saturday.

The stats

Millwall have won one of their last six games, losing three times in that run, while Preston have lost only one of their six games under Paul Heckingbottom.

The Lions are unbeaten in the last 10 meetings between these sides, winning six of those clashes

The Lilywhites are winless in eight Championship away games and have netted just two goals in their last five trips to the Den.

Both of this pair’s meetings last term finished 1-1.

Prediction

Millwall put in a great performance at QPR last weekend, racking up 16 shots and 10 corners but somehow only coming away with a point against their London rivals.

A repeat of that performance would give them a real chance against Preston, but the Lilywhites seem to be improving with every game under Paul Heckingbottom and the Lions may have to settle for another point this Saturday.

North End have lost just one of their six matches under Heckingbottom and draws with Blackburn and Middlesbrough, as well as a penalty-shootout win over Premier League Fulham, shows just how resolute they can be.

They have still netted only three league goals this term, though, so they should probably be swerved for win purposes, with the draw looking the likeliest outcome given their woeful record against Millwall – Preston are winless in their last 10 meetings with the Lions.

However, last season’s two meetings ended 1-1, meaning four of the last six clashes have finished level – an outcome which seems likely as the pair are locked on five points in the Championship.

Given Millwall have lost three of their four home matches this season and Preston are still improving, the draw is a huge runner in Saturday’s clash.
