Manchester United have announced the signing of World Cup Golden Boot winner Hinata Miyazawa.

The Japan international impressed with her displays Down Under and will now have the opportunity to express herself in the Women's Super League with the Red Devils.

Miyazawa scored five goals in four games for Japan, making her the only non-European award winner at the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

She most recently played football in her native country for WE League side Mynavi Senda, who she joined in 2021.

The 23-year-old was quick to comment on her delight at joining such a big club, saying: "I am truly very happy to be part of this wonderful family and this great team.

"I am really looking forward to getting started and hope my style of play will excite our fans."

Miyazawa will work with head coach Marc Skinner, who is looking to challenge Chelsea once again this season after losing out in both the league and FA Cup in 2022-23.

On the signing, he said: "Hinata joins our United family having proven her qualities at the highest level.

"As her Golden Boot win at this summer's Women's World Cup has shown, she will excite our fantastic fans with her direct style of play and her ability to find the most dangerous spaces.

"We cannot wait to see her develop even further within our playing squad."

Miyazawa will be hoping to make her debut against Aston Villa on October 1 as the Red Devils kick off their WSL campaign.
