The Yorkshire Oaks headlines the second day of the Ebor Festival at York
The Yorkshire Oaks headlines the second day of the Ebor Festival at York

The action continues at York on Thursday with day two of the 'Welcome to Yorkshire' Ebor Festival.

Headlined by the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks at 3.35pm, when Snowfall will bid for an Oaks treble, the card begins at 1.50pm and runs until 5.20pm.

Conditions for the seven-race meeting are forecast as 'good' and we have selected five horses for you to follow.

Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (Fillies' Group 2, 6f)

There is not much room to doubt that SANDRINE has marked herself out as the leading 2YO filly in Britain this season.

A winning start at Kempton on the Polytrack in May was low-key but she stormed home to win the Albany at Royal Ascot the following month on soft ground and then added Newmarket's Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes last month on much faster terrain.

She did that in fine style, with Desert Dreamer and Hello You in her wake, and Andrew Balding's filly sets the standard for this Lowther assignment.

LiveScore Selection: Sandrine

3pm - Clipper Logistics Handicap (Heritage Handicap, 1m)

Orbaan could turn things around with Maydanny from Glorious Goodwood back around here but FAME AND ACCLAIM seems a sound each-way contender.

Formerly trained in Ireland by Joseph O'Brien, he was third in a 17-runner C&D event last month on his third run for Les Eyre and the booking of Hollie Doyle here can only be a positive.

LiveScore Selection: Fame And Acclaim

3.35pm - Darley Yorkshire Oaks (Fillies' & Mares' Group 1, 1m4f)

Aidan O'Brien will hope to be smiling again after the Yorkshire Oaks

Wonderful Tonight is 2-2 this season at Group 2 level having ended last term with a win in the highest grade.

She's thoroughly likeable but David Menuisier's charge ideally would want some more cut in the ground and, in any case, giving 9lb to record-breaking Epsom Oaks winner SNOWFALL is a major challenge.

Aidan O'Brien elected to send Love into battle here on Wednesday, surely paving the way for this daughter of Deep Impact to emulate that filly and Enable, recent Epsom Oaks winners to bag this race.

She won the Musidora here in May and has easily added an Irish Oaks to her Epsom success since at the Curragh.

LiveScore Selection: Snowfall

4.45pm - British EBF & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes (Fillies & Mares' Listed, 1m4f)

John Gosden has made an intriguing call by stepping up Pennymore

Others in this line-up have achieved more but John and Thady Gosden must be respected having elected to step PENNYMOOR up in class so quickly.

The daughter of Frankel was a nine-length winner on the Polytrack at Kempton 15 days ago when tackling this distance for the first time and there could be plenty more to come with Frankie Dettori on board in the Godolphin colours now.

LiveScore Selection: Pennymoor

5.20pm - British Stallion Studs Ebf Fillies' Handicap (7f)

A good competitive finale in which Star Of Emaraaty, Spirit Of Bermuda and Makinitup are notables but David O'Meara's IMPROVISED is progressing fast on turf and is 3-3 on this surface after a winning handicap bow at Epsom over this trip three weeks ago.

The Raven's Pass filly came home strongly to win there and is 4lb higher now.

The second and fifth came out and won next time and this progressive 3YO looks ready for more.

LiveScore Selection: Improvised
