Snowfall on track for Arc outing
Trainer Aidan O'Brien confirmed Darley Yorkshire Oaks winner Snowfall is likely to have another warm-up run before competing in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in October.
The Irish handler watched on with pride on Thursday as Snowfall made light work of her rivals in the Yorkshire Oaks at York.
Snowfall was the 8/15 favourite for the feature race on day two of the Ebor Festival and had far too much for her six rivals as she won by four lengths.
Confirming his plans for the autumn, O'Brien said: "You can see her doing well physically, and her weight is going up so you could see her doing well in the autumn. We'll be looking forward to her for the autumn. I'll see what the lads want to do.
"It's possible that she could take in another run because physically, she's doing well. Whether the lads want to go to Arc trials day or go straight to the Arc, we'll see what they want to do."
Dawson celebrates Lowther Stakes success
Jockey Ray Dawson secured the biggest win of his career on Thursday as Zain Claudette landed the Lowther Stakes on the Knavesmire.
Trainer Ismail Mohammed is now dreaming of a run in the 1000 Guineas after the 6/1 chance stayed on strongly to win by a length, beating favourite Sandrine in the end.
Dawson has ridden Zain Claudette throughout her career, and he has told Mohammed that a step up in trip is the most sensible option.
Mohammed told reporters: "She is not a sprinter. We will keep her at six furlongs this year, and she will go for the Guineas next year. I asked the jockey, and he said she can go further."
Ebor favourite handed reserve spot
The ante-post favourite for Saturday's Ebor at York, Live Your Dream, has been named as the first reserve after missing the cut by one.
Trainer Saeed bin Suroor and jockey Pat Cosgrave must now wait to see if their runner will compete in the 22-strong field in Yorkshire.
Shanroe claimed the last spot, while Euchen Glen will carry top weight of 10st 2lb for trainer Jim Goldie.
Live Your Dream's potential absence means Sonnyboyliston, Mirann, Ilaraab, Hamish, and last year's winner Fujaira Prince head the market.
Colliver hit with six-month ban
Jockey Joe Colliver has apologised to the horse racing community after being given a six-month ban after a positive test for a metabolite of cocaine.
Colliver, who won the Long Walk Hurdle on board Sam Spinner in 2017, admitted he had taken the drug the weekend before he rode at Wetherby in February.
Colliver's interim suspension began on March 4, so the six-month suspension will be backdated and run until September 3.
