- Liverpool are on a 20-game unbeaten streak at home in the Premier League
- Arsenal have won just two of their last six away matches in all competitions
- Recommended bet: Liverpool to win

A huge clash involving two sides chasing Premier League glory takes place at Anfield on Saturday, as Liverpool play host to Arsenal in the 5.30pm fixture.

The Gunners are just one point and a place ahead of the Reds heading into this contest, and these two could find themselves dropped down a position should Aston Villa beat Sheffield United on Friday.

Team news

Liverpool are without the services of Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, Andrew Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister, Diogo Jota and Ben Doak due to injuries.

Ryan Gravenberch missed the midweek Carabao Cup victory over West Ham due to muscle soreness but he is expected to be back in the matchday squad.

Arsenal will have to make do without Jurrien Timber, Fabio Vieira and Takehiro Tomiyasu, but there is a chance Thomas Partey will have recovered from a thigh issue to play some part.

Mohamed Elneny and Jorginho are both battling to prove their fitness and will be assessed closer to the time.

The stats

Liverpool have the fourth-best home record in the Premier League this season, taking 22 points from eight matches to sit behind only Aston Villa (24), Newcastle (24) and Arsenal (23).

The Reds have not lost at Anfield in all competitions this term, only dropping points in the 0-0 draw with Manchester United last weekend, while they last tasted defeat on Merseyside in the league back on October 29, 2022.

Although Arsenal have collected 16 points away from home in this campaign, but they are without a win in their last two road assignments, going down at Aston Villa before drawing at PSV.

The Gunners have dropped points in three of their last five away fixtures in the top flight, drawing at Chelsea before then losing at both Newcastle and Villa.

Prediction

This has all the makings of a classic between two sides that are vying for the title and it is a contest that Liverpool may just have the edge in given the fact they are on home soil.

Anfield has been a fortress for the Reds, who are unbeaten on Merseyside this season, and they will be confident of overcoming an Arsenal side that have shown frailties on the road.

The Gunners' last five away games in the league have seen them draw against Chelsea, lose to Newcastle, beat Brentford and Luton before then going down at Villa.

Mikel Arteta's side needed an 89th-minute winner to overcome the Bees and a stoppage-time strike from Declan Rice to squeeze past the Hatters 4-3, so they have been leaving things very late and their luck may run out on Saturday.
