Baaeed secures maiden Group One triumph

Baaeed has now made it five wins from five after his first Group One win in the Prix du Moulin du Longchamp.

William Haggas' three-year-old is a real rising star and his stock will be even higher after his exploits in France.

Sent out as the hot odds-on favourite, the son of Sea The Stars put in a very solid performance to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths from Order Of Australia.

German 1,000 Guineas winner Novemba had a clear lead for the majority of the contest but faded near the end as Baaeed made his move under Jim Crawley and raced away to victory.

Twilight Payment aiming for seventh heaven at Curragh

Joseph O'Brien's eight-year-old Twilight Payment is hoping to win a seventh race at Curragh next week in the Group One Irish St Leger.

The experienced campaigner won there on his latest outing in the Group Three Trial Stakes in what was the perfect preparation for a return.

A previous winner of the Melbourne Cup, Twilight Payment will run alongside stablemates Baron Samedi and Master Of Reality in next Sunday's race.

O'Brien said: "Twilight Payment, Baron Samedi and Master Of Reality will run in the St Leger.

"Twilight Payment loves the Curragh and he has a brilliant record there. He seems to save his best form for the course and he's done great since he won his trial.

"Fingers crossed he will run his race and go close."

Torquator Tasso set for Arc

Marcel Weiss says Torquator Tasso will be considered for the Arc after winning the Grosser Preis at Baden-Baden.

It is the four-year-old's second win of the year after a Group Two success at Hamburg and he is now the latest contender set to race in the prestigious French Group One.

He finished a length clear of Deutsches Derby winner Sisfahan on Sunday with Godolphin's Passion And Glory, ridden by Oisin Murphy, finishing third.

Weiss said: "The Arc is the next target. Torquator Tasso passed the test with flying colours, even though the race was very stop-start. Rene Piechulek did a brilliant job."

O'Rourke bullish ahead of Banshee Group Two test

Trainer Brian O'Rourke is confident Banshee can make progress as she prepares to run in Thursday's May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

The two-year-old won her first race in her fourth start last Sunday, winning the one-mile Nursery Handicap at Yarmouth, two lengths clears of Uncs.

O'Rourke already has plans to test her again at Doncaster in what will be a big step up in class.

But he is confident the filly will give a good account of herself.

He said: "We've given her an entry and will see what happens but she's come out of the race at Yarmouth really well.

"She'll be reassessed by the handicapper on Tuesday and we feel she'll get a mark of 80, if he's kind, or 82, so she won't be the lowest-rated horse in the race and there's plenty of improvement in this filly.

"We've always thought quite a bit of her."
