Angus Gold says Raabihah will be getting another crack at the Arc

Raabihah to go for Arc

Connections are backing Raabihah to shine in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe after she got back to winning ways at Deauville last weekend.

The four-year-old filly, owned by Shadwell Studs, has had a disappointing year since she finished fifth in the Arc last year. She has been a runner-up on three occasions, each time as a beaten favourite.

But last Sunday saw her step up to her best form as she won the Group Two Prix de Pomone.

And racing manager Angus Gold has high hopes for the daughter of Sea The Stars.

He said: "I'd love to think we can have another crack at the Arc — that was the reason she was kept in training.

"She got beat a couple of times earlier this season. But as [trainer] Jean-Claude (Rouget) said to me yesterday, sometimes with these fillies who have a relatively hard time at three, it can just take them a while to get back to that level."

Asymmetric keen to renew rivalries with Perfect Power

Trainer Alan King says he hopes to get another chance to beat Perfect Power with Asymmetric in the upcoming Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on September 25.

A winner in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood, the Showcasing colt lined up in the Darley Prix Morny well fancied.

But Perfect Power won the six-furlong contest by one-and-three-quarter lengths with Trident second and King's charger in third.

King has wasted no time in setting out targets for Asymmetric. He said: "I think the plan is to head to the Middle Park, where we'll probably meet the winner again so we'll have another go.

"I know it is slightly the same for all of them, but I do think we'd appreciate slightly better ground than we had on Sunday. He maybe just didn't pick up as he can."

Perotto heading to Goodwood

Trainer Marcus Tregoning says Perotto has earned the right to have a crack in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood this Saturday.

The three-year-old was successful at Royal Ascot, winning the Handicap Britannia Stakes.

Since then, he has run three times, coming closest to victory in the Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury earlier this month, trailing Megallan by a length.

But Tregoning is confident the colt can step up win the Group Two race.

He said: "He ran really well at Salisbury and obviously he's got to raise his game again but he seems to be in good form so that's where he goes.

"The handicapper put him up another 4lbs so he thought it was a career-best and he has to run in better races now and that's where he is now.

"He won on quick ground at Ascot but I think he goes on any ground, he's very versatile."

Albasheer to make seasonal reappearance

Champagne Stakes runner up Albasheer will make his first appearance of 2021 in the British Stallion Studs EBF Conditions Stakes at Salisbury on Tuesday.

The three-year-old won on debut at Doncaster by over six lengths in what was a very impressive first ride.

Doncaster was the venue for the Shamardal colt's second race as he finished a length behind Chindit before a sixth-place finished followed at Newmarket, trailing leading three-year-old and Coral-Eclipse winner St Mark's Basilica.

Now, after a 10-month absence, the Owen Burrows-trained horse is set to run on Tuesday.

Angus Gold, racing manager for owner Shadwell Estate, said: "He looked a really nice horse on his debut when he won so well and was just beaten in the Champagne.

"He then got hurt so we've taken our time with him.

"He's an interesting horse because physically he looks like a sprinter or a seven-furlong horse rather than a mile plus, he's got stronger and stronger so we'll see where we are."
