Brighton midfielder James Milner was unable to mark his 633rd Premier League appearance with a victory as Roberto De Zerbi's side were held to a goalless draw by Wolves.

Milner, 38, surpassed former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs on the English top-flight's all-time list, leaving just ex-Aston Villa and Manchester City team-mate Gareth Barry ahead of him on 653 matches.

The utility man played 72 minutes of the stalemate at the Amex and was disappointed the Seagulls were unable to secure three points.

He told TNT Sports: "The game is the biggest thing tonight. Games wise, I've hopefully got a few more in me.

"I've had some luck, I've worked hard and you have to enjoy it to put the work in every day. I've been fortunate to play for some great clubs.

"We didn't create enough in the final third. We had plenty of the ball but it's disappointing. We couldn't create a clear-cut chance but sometimes it is that way.

"The spark wasn't there. We weren't sharp in front of goal. A clean sheet is important and with the firepower we have up front we normally get on the scoresheet.

"Clean sheets are good habits to get into."

Only Liverpool have now recorded more points than Wolves' 14 since December 5 and forward Pedro Neto was pleased with another resolute showing from Gary O'Neil's men.

The Portuguese, 23, who made his first start since October 28, said: "It's very hard to play against these guys, they are so organised.

"They had control of the game but we had counter-attacks, it's a good point.

"The mentality has changed. The way we are playing, we always want more. We came here, worked a lot and we could have won.

"I have been waiting for this start for a long time, I have had to be patient, I always want to play. I am proud of this team."

Wolves' next assignment is a Black Country derby at West Brom in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday, while Brighton head to Sheffield United the day before for their last-32 tie.

The Seagulls moved above Manchester United into seventh place in the table with their point, while Wolves remain in 11th.
