Brennan Johnson's arrival at Tottenham provides Ange Postecoglou with another attacking weapon after an impressive start to life in the Spurs hot seat.

The North Londoners are unbeaten in the Premier League after four games and sit second in the table.

And now Johnson will be looking to add to the 11 goals his new club have managed in the top flight so far this term.

Ahead of Wales' friendly against South Korea on Thursday, we turn the spotlight on the young Welsh forward.

Branching out

Johnson left Forest after Spurs stumped up a hefty £47.5million on deadline day but Postecoglou will be optimistic that the 22-year-old can prove to be worth every penny.

The Reds' academy product scored 18 times and grabbed nine assists to fire his hometown club to promotion from the Championship via the play-offs in 2021-22.

And the 19-cap international adjusted to the top flight the year after, scoring eight times and notching three assists as the Tricky Trees survived relegation under Steve Cooper.

Now, Johnson has to take on the biggest test of his career so far and help Spurs reclaim a place in the Champions League after missing out on Europe completely last term.

His speed and direct nature will suit Postecoglou's attacking brand of football and fans will be hoping that they have another Welsh wizard on their hands, akin to club legend Gareth Bale.

Making a mark

Wales skipper Aaron Ramsey has commented on Johnson's move to Spurs and is delighted for his international team-mate — even if the youngster has signed for his old rivals.

The ex-Arsenal midfielder said: "For him, it's a brilliant move. The potential he has is quite scary and hopefully he can take those next steps and go to the next level.

"He's going to be important for Wales as well.

"He's going to be huge for us over the years to come and we're all excited that he has another platform to go on and improve himself again."

Top talent

Spurs fans will be hoping that Johnson can hit the ground running when they return to action against Sheffield United on September 16.

He is most likely to challenge Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison based on their current form, with the pair scoring only one goal between them so far this season.

Captain Heung-Min Son played as a striker in the 5-2 win at Burnley last Saturday and should remain there when domestic football returns.

This gives Johnson a shot at making his mark on the wing, where he can utilise his pace and skills to make a positive impression in North London.

Buying in

Johnson has yet to kick a ball in a Spurs shirt but has already bought into Postecoglou's project.

He said: "The manager has come in and the players have got behind him. I think at this time, this was the perfect decision for me.

"I watched the game against Bournemouth and against Brentford on the opening day and the style of play has been incredible. It's something I wanted to be involved in."

Spurs will have to wait a couple of weeks to get a glimpse of their new man but Johnson will be hoping to shine on the international stage in the meantime.
