Draw

Huddersfield dropped into the Championship relegation zone despite last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bristol City and they will be targeting maximum points at home to Swansea as they continue their scrap for survival.

The Terriers might need a couple more wins to preserve second tier status and they had looked set for a maximum against Bristol City at Ashton Gate last weekend until they were pegged back by Nahki Wells’ injury-time penalty.

Swansea have struggled for large parts of the season, but they have pulled themselves clear of danger with back-to-back home wins over Stoke (3-0) and Rotherham (1-0).

Luke Williams’ side are up to 14th and have an outside chance of posting a top half finish.

Team news

Huddersfield must make do without Jonathan Hogg (shoulder), Radinio Balker (thigh), Yuta Nakayama (knee) and Josh Ruffels (groin).

Kian Harratt will not feature again this season.

Swansea are depleted by the expected absences of Przemyslaw Placheta, Kyle Naughton (both hamstring), Joe Allen (toe), Harrison Ashby and Josh Ginnelly (both muscle strains).

Seventeen-year-old Ecuadorean winger Aimar Govea has come off the bench in each of the last five games and will be pushing for more minutes.

The stats

Huddersfield have drawn 17 Championship matches this season, which is more than any other team in the division.

The Terriers have won just one of their last nine fixtures but have scored in their last 13 consecutive home games.

Swansea have won back-to-back league matches for only the second time this year and only one of their last seven games has featured goals for both teams.

Seven of Swansea’s last eight matches have generated less than three goals.

Prediction

Huddersfield have won just nine of 43 Championship matches this season and they might have to accept a single point against Swansea at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Pressure is mounting on the Terriers, who are inside the drop zone and will want to make some serious headway before travelling to promotion-chasing Ipswich for their final match of the season.

Andre Breitenreiter’s side will be pushing for maximum points but they might struggle to overcome improving Swansea, who make the trip to Yorkshire on a two-game winning run.

Swansea seem to be making steady progress under Luke Williams but they are winless in four on their travels and might need a few astute summer signings to transform themselves into genuine promotion contenders.
