Harry Kane admitted his audacious strike from his own half in Bayern Munich's 8-0 win over Darmstadt was one of his best ever.

The England striker noticed the keeper off his line and executed a perfect shot from distance which led to comparisons with compatriots David Beckham and Wayne Rooney.

It was the second goal of a superb hat-trick for Kane, who took to social media after the game.

He said: "It was obviously one of the better goals that I've scored in my career so far.

"I got the ball on the half turn and I'd seen the keeper off his line throughout the first half.

"I'm always looking for every game and of course I've tried to score from the halfway line a few times in my career, but this one just came off perfectly.

"Special afternoon, especially to finish off with the hat trick as well. So yeah, we keep going for next week."

Kane netted his second hat-trick of the Bundesliga season as 10-man Bayern bounced back from a goalless first 45 minutes to beat nine-man Darmstadt 8-0 on a wild afternoon at the Allianz Arena.

Joshua Kimmich was sent off after just four minutes, but red cards for Klaus Gjasula and Matej Maglica ensured the hosts had the man advantage at the break.

It was the first time three men have ever been sent off in the first half of a German top-flight encounter.

Kane broke the deadlock six minutes after the restart but it was his second that was the highlight.

He also picked up an assist on the first of two strikes for Jamal Musiala before adding his 12 effort in nine Bundesliga matches.

Leroy Sane, who set up Kane’s third, scored two of his own while Thomas Muller also contributed to the heaviest defeat in the visitors’ history.
