LiveScore Racing Preview: Goodwood, September 22, 2021
Racing returns to the Sussex Downs on Wednesday with a seven-race card from Goodwood.
The feature contest is a Listed race at 2.52pm and the action begins at 1.15pm.
We have picked out five horses for you to follow.
1.15pm - Ryan Canter Club Future Stayers' EBF Maiden Stakes (1m2f)
After a moderate outing on his opening appearance at Newmarket (7f), WAR HORSE produced a lot more to finish second at this course last month over 1m.
He was only a length behind the winner in that contest.
Marco Botti's runner is bred to stay further so this latest trip of 1m2f should suit.
Unlike many of his rivals here, he has some experience on his side now and it looks a good opportunity for the two-year-old gelding.
LiveScore selection: War Horse
1.45pm - White Beech Farm Optional Claiming Handicap (1m)
An opening handicap success went the way of KETTLE HILL last time out at Sandown when he prevailed in a 1m contest for the third win of his career.
Tom Marquand gave him a patient ride and delivered him just at the right time to get up by under a length.
The handicapper has raised William Haggas' runner 5lb in the ratings but he is lightly raced for his age.
There should be more improvement left in him so he can defy this rise for a second straight success.
LiveScore selection: Kettle Hill
2.52pm - Best Of British Events Foundation Stakes (1m2f - Listed)
MIGRATION has been successful twice in three starts since he was gelded.
One of those wins came over this C&D in a handicap contest where he was well on top at the finish of that race.
He is now up to a mark of 106 after his latest victory over the extended 1m2f trip at York.
This will be the David Menuisier runner's first shot at a Listed contest but he deserves to be at this level.
A repeat of his latest showings will make him hard to beat as he looks to complete his hat-trick.
LiveScore selection: Migration
3.27pm in Memory Of Gladys And Ronald Baldwin Fillies' Handicap (1m6f)
James Fanshawe's filly FLOWER OF SCOTLAND produced a career best last month to score by five lengths at Leicester (1m4f).
She made all in that race as her rivals were no match for her in what was her second win in three starts.
The daughter of Gleneagles is up in trip to a distance, which should prove no problem for her.
Expect to see Tom Marquand dictate the pace and she may be able to lead them from pillow to post once again.
LiveScore selection: Flower Of Scotland
4.35pm - Goodwood Apprentice Handicap (5f)
A switch in stables looks to have helped JUST THAT LORD, who was victorious on his debut appearance for his new trainer Simon Hodgson on his outing at Windsor (5f) earlier this month.
The eight-year-old gelding is set for his 41st career appearance here so he is one of the most experienced runners at this meeting.
A 7lb rise in the ratings should not be a concern. If he shows the same enthusiasm as his last start, he remains well in at the weights.
LiveScore selection: Just That Lord
