Wolves manager Gary O'Neil was thrilled with the performance of his players as they cruised to a 4-1 win over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

An explosive start saw Mario Lemina and Hee Chan Hwang score in quick succession before Yoane Wissa responded for the Bees moments later.

Three goals in three minutes set the tone for a frantic first half with chances for both sides.

Wolves were the team to capitalise when Hwang reestablished their two-goal cushion by flicking the ball over Ethan Pinnock and powering past Mark Flekken for a third.

After the break, Nathan Collins — who was at fault for the second — played another loose pass to Matheus Cunha which saw the Brazilian roll the ball into Jean-Ricner Bellegarde to seal all three points.

Following the win, O'Neil praised his players and highlighted Hwang as the standout player.

He told Amazon Prime: "It was obviously tough with the quick turnaround, but the lads were excellent.

"They worked their socks off, looked together and big quality to take our opportunities.

"Especially when we had to change Hwang just before half-time because he was causing them a lot of problems.

"For us to manage to keep going after the changes, we still looked like we were a threat on the counter. Brentford had nothing to lose.

"You don't win too many 4-1s away in the Premier League so it's one for the fans to enjoy."

The victory sees Wolves rise to 11th, putting them level on points with Chelsea and within touching distance of the top half of the table.

O'Neil went on to underline the ruthlessness his side showed in front of goal.

He said: "We were really clinical.

"Matheus Cunha at the end there when he has got an opportunity to shoot, he squares it to a Jean [Ricner-Bellegarde] with a perfect pace so Jean can finish it first time.

"Brentford were aggressive, we didn't have loads of control but we had big opportunities to go one-on-one and we caused them problems."
