The 2022-23 EFL season concludes this bank holiday weekend with plenty of drama in store across all three divisions.

League One's final fixtures kick off on Sunday lunchtime, with League Two and the Championship then following suit on Monday.

We round up the key permutations ahead of the final weekend of action.

Championship

Burnley and Sheffield United will enjoy one final taste of second-tier action having long since confirmed their promotions to the Premier League

Luton and Middlesbrough are already assured of a play-off berth, while only a defeat paired with other results and a goal-difference swing would deny Coventry a spot.

Such circumstances seem unlikely, though the Sky Blues do visit Michael Carrick's Boro.

Millwall currently occupy the final spot and hold a two-point advantage over the trio of Sunderland, West Brom and Blackburn.

The Lions know victory on Monday sets up a feisty two-legged play-off semi-final with Luton, though they do face a direct rival in Jon Dahl Tomasson's Rovers.

The Lancashire outfit are hampered by a poor goal difference but know that victory at The Den forces Sunderland or West Brom to take maximum points from their final fixtures.

Both are on their travels, with Tony Mowbray's Black Cats at Preston while the Baggies visit Swansea.

The relegation battle is already sewn up, with Huddersfield's midweek win meaning Reading will join Wigan and Blackpool in the third tier.

League One

Though Plymouth and Ipswich sealed returns to the second tier with their victories last weekend, the League One title remains up for grabs.

Argyle are in the box seat with a one-point advantage, meaning victory for Steven Schumacher's side at Port Vale will be enough to crown them champions.

Any slip-up will open the door for the Tractor Boys, however, and their superior goal difference means even a point would be enough for top spot should Plymouth lose at Vale Park.

Third-placed Sheffield Wednesday and fourth-placed Barnsley cannot change position on the final day but still have a huge part to play in deciding the final play-off entrant.

While Bolton's spot was secured last weekend, Derby and Peterborough are still vying over the final berth and face fellow promotion hopefuls on the final day. 

A win at Hillsborough will be enough to see the Rams over the line, though dropped points would see Darren Ferguson's Posh sneak in at the death providing they down the Tykes at Oakwell.

At the bottom, Forest Green's relegation has already been confirmed Accrington Stanley will be joining them in League Two unless a mathematical miracle occurs.

Only one of MK Dons, Cambridge and Morecambe can survive and all three will fancy their chances for differing reasons.

The Dons have their fate in their own hands, though getting a win at much-improved Burton will be no easy task.

If they fail to do so, Derek Adams' Shrimps could complete the greatest of escapes with three points at Exeter — only three straight victories have taken their survival bid to the final day.

Cambridge need both of their rivals to falter but should that be the case, their home clash with basement boys Forest Green looks an extremely generous final fixture.

League Two

Leyton Orient have already won League Two and Stevenage followed the O's into League One last weekend.

Northampton could have also sealed the deal last week but their loss to Bradford means anything but a win at Tranmere on Monday could spell last-day heartache for a second year running.

In-form Stockport are the team ready to pounce and it is hard to see the Hatters slipping up at home to already-relegated Hartlepool.

One of that pair will have to settle for the play-offs, with Carlisle, Salford and Bradford also looking odds-on for a spot in the end-of-season lottery.

The only team who can shake up that equation are Mansfield, who must beat Colchester and hope one of the trio above them lose — then it would come down to goal difference.

Relegation is already confirmed in League Two with Rochdale and Hartlepool bidding their farewells to the EFL this weekend.
