Celtic vs Rangers predictions: Champions can all but seal title
- Celtic have scored 27 goals in their last nine league matches
- There have been 41 goals in the last 13 Old Firm games
- Recommended bet: Celtic to win & over 2.5 goals
The final Scottish Premiership Old Firm game of the season takes place at Celtic Park on Saturday and it could prove to be a title decider.
Celtic hold a three-point advantage over Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and a victory for the champions would almost certainly see the Hoops retain their title.
Team news
Daizen Maeda returned from a hamstring injury to make a substitute appearance in a 3-0 win over Hearts last weekend and the Japanese international could return to the starting XI on Saturday.
Connor Goldson, Oscar Cortes and Danilo have been ruled out for the season for Rangers.
Ryan Jack, Rabbi Matondo, and Abdallah Sima are major doubts and there are concerns over the fitness of defender Leon Balogun, who was forced off at half-time against Kilmarnock.
Ben Davies returned to the squad last weekend and the center back could be thrown back into action.
The stats
Celtic have scored 27 goals in their last nine league matches.
There have been 41 goals in the last 13 Old Firm games.
Rangers have won only five of their last 11 matches.
Rangers have kept only two clean sheets in their last six away games.
Celtic have lost only one of their last 21 matches.
Prediction
Celtic host Rangers in the final Old Firm league game of the season and it could prove to be a decisive one.
The Bhoys are three points clear of Rangers at the top of the table, and with only two games to come afterwards, the champions would surely retain their title should they avoid defeat at Celtic Park on Saturday.
Rangers had the title destiny in their own hands but a defeat at Ross County followed by a draw at Dundee handed the initiative back to Celtic and the Hoops have certainly ended the campaign in better form.
It is only one defeat in 21 games for the Bhoys while Brendan Rodgers’ men have hit 27 goals in their last nine league matches.
That is certainly a worry for Rangers, who have looked vulnerable at the back and travel to the East End of Glasgow without key defender Connor Goldson.
The Gers will pose an attacking threat and they scored three goals in a 3-3 Ibrox draw in the last Old Firm clash.
However, it is difficult to see Philippe Clement’s men keeping the Bhoys at bay, having lost twice already to their arch rivals this season, and backing a Celtic win and over 2.5 goals in the game looks the way to go.
