Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways on Sunday

- Bournemouth have kept clean sheets in five of their last eight wins
- Burnley have failed to register an attempt on goal in their last two games
- Recommended bet:
Bournemouth win to zero

Burnley have managed just three wins in their 26 Premier League games so far, losing 19 of those, and an immediate return to the Championship looks inevitable as they are 11 points adrift of safety ahead of the visit of Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Cherries are not out of the woods just yet either in terms of their own survival hopes but they do have a healthy eight-point gap between themselves and the bottom three — and they will fancy their chances of leaving Turf Moor with maximum points this weekend.

Team news

Burnley will be without key midfielder Josh Brownhill
Burnley will be without key midfielder Josh Brownhill

The Clarets will be without suspended midfielder Josh Brownhill after he was sent off in the defeat to Crystal Palace last time out.

Jordan Beyer is close to making a return from a hamstring problem but Sunday’s game may come too soon.

Bournemouth could be without top scorer Dominic Solanke due to a knee problem. The striker did receive a clear MRI scan on Tuesday but did not train during the week, and the Cherries will make a late call on their leading marksman.

Lloyd Kelly is unavailable, but Enes Unal is in contention following a shoulder problem that saw him withdrawn at half-time in the FA Cup tie against Leicester.

The stats

Burnley are winless in nine games across all competitions (L7, D2).

Bournemouth have picked up 15 points from 13 away league games.

The Clarets have failed to register an attempt on target in each of their last two games.

Bournemouth won the reverse fixture 2-1 back in October.

Prediction

Both of these teams come into this game in poor form as Burnley are winless in nine, while the Cherries have gone six games without a victory, but there has been a marked difference in their respective performances.

The Clarets offered little in their 3-0 loss to Palace last time out after seeing Brownhill dismissed after 35 minutes. Vincent Kompany’s men did not manage an attempt on target and had just two in total.

Prior to that, they were thrashed 5-0 at home by title chasers Arsenal — again without forcing a save from the opposing goalkeeper.

The Cherries come into the game after losing out to Leicester in extra-time in the FA Cup and last weekend they were perhaps unlucky not to steal a point against champions Manchester City.

Bournemouth have drawn four games during their six-game winless streak and they have at least been scoring. Even if Solanke is absent, they have enough attacking talent within their squad to find a way through this vulnerable Burnley defence and one goal may be enough to win this fixture given the Clarets’ recent toothless attacking displays.

Burnley have the worst home record in the division with just five points from 13 games, losing 10 of those, and Bournemouth can push them closer to having their relegation confirmed with a victory on Sunday.

Five of the Cherries last eight victories in all competitions have been accompanied by clean sheets and they can win at Turf Moor without conceding.
