Brentford to win

All four of West Ham’s points this season have come away from home but their third successive London derby on the road could prove difficult against Brentford.

The Bees have suffered successive defeats at Manchester City and Tottenham, but Crystal Palace and Southampton have already come unstuck at the Gtech Community Stadium and this could prove too tough a test for the Hammers.

Team news

Brentford have been rocked by the news that striker Yoane Wissa will be out of action for a couple of months after suffering an ankle injury.

Josh DaSilva, Mathias Jensen, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Gustavo Nunes and Igor Thiago are also missing, but Christian Norgaard could return.

West Ham hope to have German striker Niclas Fullkrug back after a calf injury.

The stats

Brentford have lost just one of their last eight league home matches, while six of their last seven matches have featured more than two goals.

Both teams have scored in six of West Ham’s last eight games on the road and the Hammers have conceded at least twice in seven of their last 11 league away games.

West Ham have kept just two clean sheets in their last 25 league away matches.

Prediction

New West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui is already having a tough time and, while most of his issues revolve around the Hammers losing their opening three home league games of the season, a trip to Brentford may not offer much salvation to the beleaguered Spaniard.

The Eastenders won at Crystal Palace and gained a draw at Fulham thanks to a late Danny Ings goal, but their defensive frailties were exposed on Wednesday in a 5-1 League Cup defeat at Liverpool, when they fielded a strong line-up.

So confidence in the camp is low and that can be exposed by the Bees, even though their striking resources have been hit by the news that Wissa will be out for a couple of months with an ankle injury.

They have lost their last two games at Manchester City and Tottenham despite scoring goals in the opening minute of both matches, but manager Thomas Frank was optimistic after their performance in a 3-1 loss at Spurs and they should be a lot stronger now they are back on their own patch.

Brentford have already seen off Palace and Southampton at home this term and a 4-2 loss to Newcastle on the final day of last season is the only defeat they have suffered in their last eight league matches at the Gtech Community Stadium.

They look a decent price to take all three points.
