Queensberry Promotions have confirmed Tyson Fury's undisputed heavyweight showdown with Oleksandr Usyk will now take place on May 18.

WBC champion Fury, 35, was forced to postpone his fight with Usyk after confirming he had suffered a nasty cut just above his eye while sparring for the contest, which was originally scheduled for February 17.

The location for Fury's meeting with WBA Super, IBF and WBO champ Usyk remains unchanged with the contest set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Speaking about his injury, Fury said: "I am absolutely devastated after preparing for this fight for so long and being in such superb condition.

"I feel bad for everyone involved in this huge event and I will work diligently towards the rescheduled date once the eye has healed.

"I can only apologise to everyone affected, including my own team, Team Usyk, the undercard fighters, partners and fans as well as our hosts and my friends in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."

Fury's last outing was a controversial split decision over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in Riyadh last October, while he has not defended his belt since stopping Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December 2022.

Usyk, meanwhile, knocked out Daniel Dubois in Poland last August having twice beaten Anthony Joshua on points.

The Ukrainian — two years older than Fury — has an unblemished 21-fight record, with 14 knockouts.

Fury has won 34 of his 35 pro bouts, with one draw against with Deontay Wilder in December 2018.
