Arsenal to win to nil

Arsenal may be feeling aggrieved after last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Manchester City, where John Stones grabbed a last-gasp equaliser, but the Gunners must get back to business at home to Leicester.

They remain two points behind leaders City following Stones’ injury-time leveller at the Etihad, but there were still plenty of positives for Mikel Arteta to take given that his side played the whole second half with ten men.

It means Arsenal are still unbeaten after five league games, having amassed 11 points and they are unsurprisingly short-priced favourites to keep their strong start going against the Foxes.

Leicester, in stark contrast to the Gunners, remain winless after five outings following last season’s Championship-winning campaign and a tough season is seemingly in store.

Arsenal responded to that City setback with a comfortable 5-1 win at home to Bolton in the EFL Cup on Wednesday and they should be able build on that in Saturday’s showdown with Leicester.

Team news

Leandro Trossard is suspended following his first-half red card at the Etihad last Sunday and he joins Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino, Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko on the sidelines.

Arteta has also confirmed that first-choice goalkeeper David Raya is an injury doubt, so Bournemouth loanee Neto may get the nod in between the sticks.

Leicester, meanwhile, remain without strikers Patson Daka and Nathaniel Opuku, as well as back-up goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk.

The stats

Arsenal have lost only one of their last 23 league games and they have won 14 of their last 17 league assignments at the Emirates.

Nine of Arsenal’s last 11 Premier League victories have been recorded to nil, which includes each of their three wins this term.

Arsenal have won their last five Premier League meetings with Leicester, keeping three clean sheets in the process.

Leicester have failed to win any of this season’s opening five league games, but both teams have scored on every occasion.

The Foxes have won only one of their last 13 away matches in the Premier League.

Prediction

Arsenal had the meanest defence in the Premier League last season, conceding only 29 goals in 38 games and that organisation at the back is going to be key in their title pursuit this term.

Raya being an injury doubt is a concern, but having Gabriel and William Saliba fit and healthy in the heart of their defence may be of even greater significance.

The Gunners have already kept three clean sheets in five league games this season, recording shutouts in their victories over Wolves, Aston Villa and Tottenham and they should be able to stand firm against City.

The Foxes have scored in all five league games so far this season, but Tottenham and Aston Villa have been their only two opponents of note and they are still extremely reliant on the services of 37-year-old striker Jamie Vardy.

Arsenal have kept three clean sheets in their last four Premier League meetings with Leicester and another one should follow in victory for the Gunners here.
