Watford will be eager to return to winning ways when they welcome Norwich to Vicarage Road for Championship action on Tuesday evening.

The Hornets lost 2-0 at Leicester at the weekend, bringing an end to their six-game unbeaten run, but they will confident of responding quickly back on home soil.

Norwich head into the contest on the back of two straight victories, a run that has helped ease the pressure on David Wagner, but they have struggled on the road and a leaky defence suggests this could be a tough night for them.

Team news

Norwich forward Josh Sargent is still out of action due to injury

Watford will need to make one alteration to their starting XI from the defeat at Leicester following goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann's sending-off, with Ben Hamer expected to be given the nod.

The Hornets are also without 23-year-old full-back Jeremy Ngakia, who is set to miss the next few months with an ankle injury.

As for Norwich, Jonathan Rowe missed Saturday's win over QPR with a heel issue and is doubtful for this contest. Fellow forward Josh Sargent remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from a ligament injury.

The Canaries are also without the services of goalkeeper Angus Gunn and centre-back Grant Hanley, while there are also doubts over Poland international Przemyslaw Placheta due to a toe problem.

The stats

Watford have suffered only two home defeats this season and 15 of their overall total of 21 points have been collected at Vicarage Road.

Publicidad

Four of the Hornets' last five home Championship matches have produced four goals or more.

Of Norwich's eight league defeats this season, five have come on the road.

The Canaries have the second worst defensive record in the division, conceding 32 times, while nine of the club's last 11 Championship away fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.

Nine of Norwich's last 11 Championship away games have ended with over 2.5 goals

Prediction

While Norwich are looking to make it three wins in a row on Tuesday, they have not looked convincing in those victories and they are unlikely to get any change from a Watford side that have been solid at home.

The Hornets have collected 15 points at Vicarage Road and they have saved their best attacking performances for their own fans, having scored 18 of their 23 goals in Hertfordshire.

That final-third efficiency is a huge worry for the Canaries, who have the second worst defence in the division and have conceded 18 times on the road.

Watford have the talents in their squad to exploit a struggling Norwich defence and stick a few past their opponents in a convincing victory.
